I use to watch the fireworks from a park in Canada, but since I don't have a passport, I need to find another safe viewing location. Does anyone have suggestions?

How about hmmmmm. . .Detroit?
Sorry Bearinabox. . .Detroit Riverfront is great view! or even Belle Isle on the southern end!
I'm sure the RenCen will be chaos as usual.
I sometimes go to the Mexicantown area if I don't feel like dealing with the riverfront crowds. Good views from any number of corners and parking lots, fun, festive atmosphere.
Top floor of the tallest parking deck right across from Rivard Plaza. That place has been money the past two years and once you're on the top deck you have a great view of everything.
I usually cycle down with a group and watch from Woodward and Jefferson, turn the bike around and be away from traffic within 2 min's. It's kind of a no hassles way to watch em'.
Just before the fireworks start, get on the people mover. When it gets to the river front, press the emergency stop button, and enjoy the show.
LMAO!!!! Sounds like a good idea.
Mount Elliot Park is a good spot. If you want to talk about a hidden gem this is one of them. The vacant lot on W Jefferson behind the Main Post Office. If you're looking to dine out, that would be an excellent time to eat outside at seldom blues or, better yet, dine in at Coach Insignia, just get a table with a river view.
