Besides a playground there? For whom? Winos? There aren't kids living anywhere near that place, unless they are homeless along with one of their parental units.
The times I've visited Detroit, I've always seen tons of kids with their families walking down on the riverfront. Many cities have what are called "destination playgrounds." They are a place to take the kids for a few hours and are attractive for their safety and often times far better maintenance. You have to drive to get there, and of course we know many of the residents that use the riverwalk nearby don't necessarily live by it.

One suggestion: Read the posts and follow the links before replying. If you had done that, you would have read that the DNRE has submitted a $2 million Trust Fund grant.

Yesterday, the Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund recommended $34.4 million in grants for the RiverWalk, Milliken State Park, Globe Building, and Dequindre Cut. The city was recommended for a million in other park grants, too. Details on these grants and others are now posted on m-bike.

Thanks Todd_Scott.... the $9 million for the Globe Building should put the questionable $25,000 figure to rest....
