They had them at the DQ at Grand River/7 Mile but that was a while ago. Not as good as Sanders though.
Oh, so very true, my east side brother. I loved the Almond Chicken at the old China Palace in Warren, but guess that wouldn't count here. Delicate layers of pounded chicken breast teased with paper-thin sliced almonds. Can't get that anywhere in the South, where they [[not traditional sticky-rice Chinese) seem to have adopted the tendency to fry a lot stuff [[go figure) a la "sweet & sour". Mmmm! Thanks for that enjoyable sensory memory! Ah, now I'm really hungry.
Tillies, on van dyke. north of 7 mi. rd. Large hamburger, tomato, lettuce, and a large portion of french fries for 35 cents. 4 big pancakes, butter and syrup, for 25 cents. Damn, I am an old guy now, but was a teen then. Cops and detectives, used to eat in the back room only.
