Why not say what you really meant, Blacks always vote democratic. Only problem is it's not true. Although the majority votes democratic, some of us are Independent thinkers who vote for the best candidate, regardless of party.

With that being said, I think the state, and by extension, Detroit, will probably benefit more under a Republican governor. The most pressing need in the state is JOBS. Michigan needs a governor who diversify the economy and encourage business growth and investment in this region. As more business and jobs come to the area, Detroiters will benefit. I haven't completely decided, but I'm leaning towards Snyder.

Detroit will ONLY benefit a democratic governor. Detroit has been since the Progressive Reforming Era a pure liberal city with liberal show horse happy talk city leaders and its services. Detroit might have Republican connections, but never impresses any Detroiters. Detroit today NEVER benefits from any Republicans and most Detroiters will NEVER support any Republicans. Not even Engler.

    WORD FROM THE STREET PROPHET

Andy Dillon for governor for Neda's Sake

" Will Detroit benefit under a Republican or Democratic governorship?"

The question should be will individuals benefit from an honest Governor.
If individuals benefit from less intrusive government and the people or as Stalin would call them, useful idiots, vote for people who aren't crooks, then yes Detroit will benefit.
You still have not said what Mike Cox has done wrong. He did nothing wrong because he couldn't find anything wrong because Kwame had his cronies shut their mouths.

Do you mean the one that they eventually voted for?

The "delay" was a mediocre attempt by the republicans to generate some negative PR for the democrats.

Unfortunately, the MSM focused on Sherrod story for most of this week. This took away any advantage that the negative PR on spending would've given them.

But the difference is that I am not lying to myself nor others by claiming to be "independent" or "open minded"
If you are a solid Repub why is that ? What do they bring to the table thats so great you would never vote for a Democrat, something tangible please, skip the talking points.

wait a minute. "a majority" votes democratic? When you say that the percentage of 51% comes to mind.

Without having the time to get the raw data--I think the last election it was 94% democratic and I think it was 89% in 2000 and 93% in 2004. I seem to remember the big hub bub about W making in-roads with black voters by getting 11%! in 2000 as being a big deal. So if you are a part of that 6-11% god bless you.

But I think a more apt phrase would be ALMOST ALL african americans vote Democratic versus a "majority" that vote democratic. I don't care nor have a problem with that.

What I was trying to point out from my previous posts [[with you know who) was that she has never voted for a Republican in her life and probably will never do so. So to try and pretend that she is "open minded" or my favorite term "independent" is disingenuous at least and at the most a bold face lie [[ especially when she couldn't name one republican she has ever voted for on any level)

If the national economy doesn't heat up fast, it won't make any difference who's in charge.
Look back at recent and past governors and you'll see they were at the mercy of outside forces. It just gets worse here when things go south nationally.

Top of my head would be taxes, taxes, taxes.

One party wants to let me keep money the other wants to take it.

As a small business owner, taxes are a very big part of my overall expenses. When there is not a huge profit margin to begin with and the rate jumps 5% overnight that's a big deal.

Or for instance, here in the great State of Michigan, the MBT or SBT, actually taxes me on my GROSS and my profit so if I lose money I still have to pay a tax.

Guess which party is in favor of eliminating it and which wants to keep it?

Some people just have taxes on the brain, I guess.

...people educated in evil socialist schools, who drive to work on evil socialist roads, who communicate with their employers by sending emails over the evil socialist Internet? Some businesses even have evil socialist water and sewer hookups, and have space in buildings that don't fall down because they were built to evil socialist codes enforced by evil socialist municipal employees. But yeah, taxes are completely fucking useless.

Seriously, would a milligram of nuance make your head explode?

sorry there is no nuance in numbers. If I want to operate a business it will cost me X in taxes.

Can you at least admit that tax rates have a profound effect on business?

And as a business owner, it would be in my best intrest to make them a high priority when operating or starting a business?

If for instance you were starting a business would you more likely start a business--

    In Michigan:
    open in oakland/macomb county

    or

    in Detroit?

    Nationally-

    In Florida or Texas

    or

    Michigan-with the dreaded MBT?

Shit I am sorry--forgot the most bsic basic question

Have you ever had to actually run and operate a business or are you another government employee who doesn't have to worry about profit/loss?

I guess when profit/loss is taken out of the equation--you can use words like "nuance" while on your fifth mandatory coffee break.

...and you will gain Y in benefit from government spending. Maintaining a functioning society costs money, and businesses are a hell of a lot harder to operate in societies that don't function. Don't believe me? Move your business to Somalia and let us know how that works out.

Depends on the person, not the party. I could see Cox, Dillon and the Nerd being very Detroit friendly.

"Or for instance, here in the great State of Michigan, the MBT or SBT, actually taxes me on my GROSS and my profit so if I lose money I still have to pay a tax."

When I pay my property taxes, no one asks if my business made a profit or not. When I pay the sales tax on almost everything I buy, no one asks if my business made a profit or not. When I put gas in the car and pay a gas tax, no one asks if I made a profit or not. Why not? Because it still costs money to supply services to me whether I made a profit or not. What difference should it make if you made a profit or not? It costs money to provide services.
