Default Drowning Doesn’t Look Like Drowning

Yesterday a two-year-old boy drowned near Ypsilanti. This was one of several drownings [[or near drownings) in the area this summer.

A fellow reader of the local news shared this excellent article I encourage everyone to read. I consider myself a pretty savvy Mom, but the statement that "of the approximately 750 children who will drown next year, about 375 of them will do so within 25 yards of a parent or other adult" makes me reevaluate my assumptions about this issue.

I certainly had no idea. Thank you, for a great post. It might even save a life!
One thing that I have observed: Too many parents are lax in supervising children at pools and beaches. They should be watching like an eagle, all of the time.

Slightly off topic, but let's not forget store parking lots too. I see so many people drive thru stop signs at 25 + mph while on the phone. Kids just have a tendency to cut and run, and the combination of the two can be disastrous.
