DYesers--come to the Redford theatre this weekend to see Stanley Kubrick's 1968 masterpiece in breath-taking 70MM on the Redford's huge screen.
Showings are at 8:00PM on Friday and Saturday evening with the lobby pianist playing at 7:00 after doors open, the organ overture begins at 7:30. There is a Matinée showing Saturday afternoon at 2:00PM, Doors open at 1:00 with the lobby piano playing and the organ overture begins at 1:30.
70MM film is twice as wide as "standard" 35mm film, and the sharpness of picture is beautiful, the six-channel sound is terrific. The Redford has 5 Altec-Lansing "Voice of the theatre" speakers behind the screen to aid in the quality reproduction of the sound.
The Redford theatre is located at 17360 Lahser ave. in the heart of the old Redford business district, one block north of Grand River ave. There is lighter, fenced and supervised parking in the theatre's two parking lots on the north side of the building, and the concession stand has been voted "best in Detroit" for both variety and [[low) prices.
