I can't figure out how to link it but google "kinsman and lovett 48210"
If you put "282 Eliot" into "street view," you get to see Slumpy again! There was absolutely nothing like it - Slumpy was the poster child for the house-moving industy. Bricks like to stay put...
So you are complaining that you had a neighbor that cared about the way that his property looked and that he tried to keep it looking nice. Really???I moved out of Detroit four years ago. My former neighbor across the street was fastidious about caring for his lawn. He had the latest lawn assault equipment including power blower, edger, trimmer and lawn mower. His use of the edger was particularly annoying when it would scrape against the sidewalk and make those noises like an amplified nails across the blackboard. My next door neighbor and I called him the Lawn Nazi. Last year I checked a Google map of my former residence to see how they captured my house. I panned across to the house across the street and, sure enough, there was the Lawn Nazi angling his edger along the sidewalk. Check it out at 18424 Winston, Detroit 48219.
So sad that the city used to be so nice.
Because of my OS and browser, I can't link directly to street view. Click on the linked text below, then click on the red 'A' and click 'Street View'. Set the compass 'N' to the 9 o'clock position.
Driving towards downtown in Delray and looking towards your right, clicking the forward arrow reveals a burnt out building... restored... and then quickly reverted to decay. Note the building in the distance on the same side.

Too funny, they caught the 'lawn nazi' in action.I moved out of Detroit four years ago. My former neighbor across the street was fastidious about caring for his lawn. Though, to his credit, the old 'Addams mansion' looked much better than it did back in the 70's.

There are some pretty depressing spots in that neighborhood. Do you think I could get a taxi to pick me up over here on Hesse?

That's some sort of glitch on Google's end, not an actual misspelled sign. Hit the arrow and move a few feet further north, and the sign shows up normally.Forgot one from Memorial day ,and this follows the 'oddities' theme:

Someone needs a larger garage.
Following Jimaz's lead on the overstuffed garage [[mine almost as bad!)
Cruised down the road and there was this: Looks great to me, and judging by lawn and garden, it's intentional. Hard on the brick, though...

How the heck do you trim that vine from the roof?! Loved the SOP sign.

Wow. Also quite the change of scenery if you go North on St. Aubin. The sky gets pretty overcast and the building goes from having a logo to being painted white.
It's interesting to see the blue ghost car - apparently it was on the move. Not a Google quirk, but I was up here the other day and noticed how, since some streets don't go through, they end on somebody's garage. I mean, I know Detroit was never known for great city planning, but ...

Another censored location.
For obvious reasons. [[Slightly NSFW )
Any info on that building? It says "Detroit Trucking Company" on the facade.
And what's that new logo on the front of that building? American and Canadian flags? And that figure. Is that a bust with red testicles???
On the more narrow roads in the Netherlands and England you can encounter this....

I just saw this thread and it reminded me of something I've been meaning to ask about for some time...
Can someone fill me in on what this fenced in, barb-wired lot is on Woodward right across from the Bonstelle Theater?

Er.... Grass?
Aerial photos show a multi-story building fronting Woodward as recently as the year 1999. Looks like there was parking in the rear. I can't remember what the building was, and I have know idea why it would be fenced off.I just saw this thread and it reminded me of something I've been meaning to ask about for some time...

Hey, right at 'your' spot, there are some really strange "men"
standing there...I bet they are made of steel truck parts, based on the biz right there, but the sun is too bright to tell for sure. Ever see it in person?
