    Default Patriots' Day Warning

For those working in government offices or even schools, be particularly aware of your surrondings today. April 19th is Patriots' Day, celebrating the battles of Lexinton and Concord, which began the Revolutionary War or War for American Independence in 1775. It is the date that many extremists have targeted government buildings and employees. Tim McVeigh used this date to blow up the federal building in Oklahoma City. David Keresh led his assault against the FBI around this date. Columbine and the Virginia Tech school shootings occurred around this date. Be vigilent today.

If I remember correctly, he was an unlicensed gun dealer, and the ATF simply knocked on his door. He didn't instigate any thing at any particular time.

If he was an unlicensed gun dealer, he surely did instigate the ATF knocking on his door. Had he had a license, they wouldn't have had to knock, now would they?

True, but it had nothing to do with Patriots day as the OP implied.

nothing like having underaged women and guns at a compound...nope no problem with that...

as far as today...we all should take a moment and remember OKC...and the root causes of things that divide.

Interesting, chilling, downright scary....A Voice From the Grave, McVeigh tells why he did it.

    From the article above:

"the number of antigovernment extremist groups spiked from 149 in 2008 to 512 [[127 of them militias) in 2009."

That is a very significant increase..

"Many extremists"? I count only one unless your are counting the FBI assault on the Koresh compound.

The Davidians did illegally fire on FBI agents assaulting their compound but the word 'assault' would be more appropriate to descibe the government ramming its armored vehicle into the compound and starting the fire which massacred the 55 adults and 21 children inside; an amount equal to about half as many people slaughtered at Wounded Knee. Janet Reno is right up there with Colonel Custer in handling troublesome tribes. This was all pretty unnecessary as David Koresh frequently came to town to purchase supplies. The slaughter would not have been necessary if they had just arrested him there.

Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols did choose the anniversary of that massacre as well as the government's Ruby Ridge killings as excuses for his truck bombing. Jayna Davis was a reporter with an Oklahoma City newspaper who reported a middle-eastern connection with Nichols and McVeigh and the following Clinton cover-up. Some of her articles are still up on the internet such as http://www.jaynadavis.com/law.html . Not only did the FBI swallow up all references to the 'third bomber', the NY Times immediately bought her newspaper and fired her. Clinton came to town and blamed the bombing on his political enemies, militias and talk radio, but eliminated the loose ends that interfered with his self-serving story line. Also, a retired army general has come out with his ideas about why the truck could not have held enough explosives to do that much damage. I am not enough of an engineer to evaluate his 9/11 truther type comments. I have a problem entertaining the idea that our government would hurt Americans but for what it's worth: Brig Gen Ben Partin Lecture; Oklahoma City / Part 1 of 2

What does Columbine and Virginia Tech have to do with this Patriot Day fantasy except for being the actions of other whackos [[not WACOs, that was Reno/Clinton) ?

Former President Clinton, the other day, was trying to somehow shamelessly link the hundreds of recent peaceful tea parties with the Oklahoma City bombing and now its a Democrat talking point even though the most recent brownshirt violence came from his side in New Orleans and he had a hand in the Koresh massacre which McVeigh, Nichols, and [[?) used as an excuse to create more violence.

Can anyone remember in recent US history, a case of anyone who was executed so soon after his trial as McVeigh? I had always thought they didn't want him to talk so I am surprised that he is being resurrected on tv to update the Clinton storyline about militias and talk radio. Maybe Newsweek thinks it can sell magazines if it becomes a Democrat Party organ to tell the sheeple what to think. First the big article about how Obama had ended the recession [[hahaha) and now the attempt to link tea partiers with McVeigh.

Newsweek should also run a story about how President Obama has decided he has the power and right to kill Americans without trial. It would make this left wing fantasy stuff about hunkering down on Patriot's day look silly.

Yes it is but consider it is from an organization that wrote a publication for the Missouri State Police warning them that the occupants of cars with libertarian or constitutional bumper stickers should be considered possible terrorists.

So, if we can get more people to don bumperstickers on their cars, we can make them think the revolution is on?!

That is exactly what I was thinking... This was a botch job from hell. As is most any sort of operation like this under Democratic Govt. Carter's botched rescue, Clinton's botched rescue attempt. Mismanaged with no contingencies in place.

I remember that and did not know that the SPLC was behind that bumper sticker fiasco. I suppose the founding fathers would be deemed terrorists by them these days.

Who knows? Maybe the Southern Poverty Law Center thinks the revolution is on already and the 'Chuck Baldwin for President' bumper stickers are merely the useful self identifying equivalent of yellow armbands . Be on the lookout fellow patriots! No wait, the people calling themselves 'patriots' are the evil ones. Be on the the lookout fellow informers!

Since writing my last link, I came across a piece about McVeigh and the OKC bombing written by Gore Vidal. He was one of the five people McVeigh asked to be a witness at his lethal injection. It is a long article which includes jail house letters from McVeigh. Although I've never heard of 'Patriot's Day', this article, written by a liberal, might make a good Patriot Day's read.

    The Meaning of Timothy McVeigh
Americans were fed the story of Timothy McVeigh’s trial and execution as a simple, unquestionable narrative: he was guilty, he was evil, and he acted largely alone. Gore Vidal’s 1998 Vanity Fair essay on the erosion of the U.S. Bill of Rights caused McVeigh to begin a three-year correspondence with Vidal, prompting an examination of certain evidence that points to darker truths—a conspiracy willfully ignored by F.B.I. investigators, and a possible cover-up by a government waging a secret war on the liberty of its citizens. by Gore Vidal[[Vanity Fair)

I didn't read anything above that denied he was a murderer,
or glorified him. Bad is bad, he's just talking about what might have

McVeigh himself scrapped his appeals and that quickened his death. He wanted to be martyred by other right wing radicals

don't you find it funny that the liberals were/are appalled at the anti-governmental issues that this week has represented in history..for over a year on this forum, and in the fields of clover [[tea party gatherings) we are the ones called unpatriotic...

let me understand this...if you wear a flag pin and hate the government, as it exists, and want the constitution protected even when you are being wiretapped you are a patriot....but if you lived on a compound and were wire tapped you would use your illegal weapons to try to kill those who wire tap you and work for the government while fighting the government that you want to control yourself again...the same government who you want out of your life...[[this is irony) until you have to drive on the roads [[that socialists made) to get to the mail box to send your hate letters to your congressmen and women. After threatening to kill elected officials in the government that you are claim to be protecting sends law enforcement officials to your compound in the woods, and if by chance your incendiary grenade goes off...and the socialist firemen show up...you would complain about to big of government. yep I get it. You hate the government that you claim is into your lives too much until you need them in your lives to much....I guess then you are what a patriot...who wants cession and then you are Sarah Palin...until you run for an office that is funded by others tax dollars...

so those who dont want to pay taxes ...try living with out government...then get back to us.

Gibran, The Vidal article got to you didn't it? You usually make more sense. Not sure who you are addressing but 80 men, women, and children tortured with a Nancy Sinatra song and dying rabbit screams for 51 days and then poison gassed, and finally burned to death by the Clinton administration. Where was Clinton's famous empathy when it didn't further his agenda? But you are right that we should be grateful for the government for at least spending some of our money on roads and firemen. I wasn't aware that the Davidians had stockpiled weapons. How many did they have per adult that it qualified as stockpiling? The Vidal article just said that "The Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms...refused all invitations from cult leader David Koresh to inspect his licensed firearms." Incinerating them was probably even worse than sending hate mail to congressmen; whomever you are saying did that. Koresh was good for nothing but those kids didn't deserve to be killed.

The Philadelphia police did something similar when they bombed John Africa's MOVE house in Philadelphia also killing children in 1985. "In a 1996 civil suit in U.S. federal court, a jury ordered the City of Philadelphia to pay $1.5 million to a survivor and relatives of two people killed in the incident. The jury found that the city used excessive force and violated the members' constitutional protection against unreasonable search and seizure." -wikipedia. It seems the federal government did the same thing and got away with it in WACO.

In a way, McVeigh failed in his own cause. He gave, or contributed to giving, the federal government an excuse to take away more of our liberties. I wonder if he would have acted out if he realized that his action would result in more police state powers.

Not very related but government now spend more tax money on interest than it does on roads - so large is the debt.

You seem to conviniently forget that Koresh and his pals just happened to douse the compound with gasoline before the attack. Who incinerated who?

Source? Vidal wrote that the feds filled the compound with gas, not gasoline, which was both poisonous and flamable. Either way, "Some Davidians escaped. Others were shot by F.B.I. snipers." I realize you are a big government guy but the slaughter was unnecessary since they could have just nabbed Koresh on one of his trips to town for supplies.
