Either they should be making minimum wage as well or the business needs to be shut down by the state.
UInless of course they're running one of those dirty businesses where they hire young folks as interns or volunteers to "get around" the labor/wage laws.

It's as simple as convenience. In certain situations [[stadiums, theatres, amusement parks, hotels, convention centers, etc.) retailers can charge a premium on products that would otherwise be relatively cheap. If you really want to drink that Pepsi then you'll pay $3 for it, if you don't really want to drink that Pepsi you won't. Cobo knows that there are people who are willing to pay $3 for the convenience of having that Pepsi at that very moment. It has nothing to to do with cost or volume.
What the heck are you drinking Pepsi for when Faygo is a Detroit product? And the sugar and caffeine in a lot of sodas just make your mouth furry so you have to drink some more.Sugary sodas also contribute to obesity. For all these reasons, I'm for taxing sugary sodas as well as bottled water which is a huge boondoggle and creates all those bottles that are not recycled and are left by trashy people in the streets, on the sidewalks, on people's lawns, etc. They are not a necessity of life. Sugar addiction can be beat.
^what he said^
and does Cobo still have drinking fountains? Love that great lakes drinking water, free under the socialist system, 1-5 dollars a bottle under the capitalist system.
Cost under capitalist system = paid out of pocket
Cost under socialist system= paid for by taxpayers.
Cost under capitalist system = paid out of pocket, except when the capitalists running the system need subsidies, bailouts, tax breaks, infrastructure assistance, police protection, fire assistance, educated employees, roads, electricity, or any other form of help
In America, capitalism buy YOU!

Which they pay taxes for. I was just pointing out the fallacy of "free water". I used to live in the country and had a well. People used to remark, gotta love that free water, it wasn't free. It had to be chlorinated, the system required electricity and regular maintenance which all came at a cost.
Please take your healthy brigade elsewhere...What the heck are you drinking Pepsi for when Faygo is a Detroit product? Ah, more costs to socialize. But how dare we cut into anybody's profits!Which they pay taxes for. I was just pointing out the fallacy of "free water". I used to live in the country and had a well. If only it were that simple. Kind of like the 'abolish taxes' model. And replace it with what? Fees, plain and simple. Another way of saying, spelling and defining 'taxes'.

Cost under capitalist system = paid out of pocket [[except for the government subsidies paid to agribusinesss/corporate food barons for high fruitcose corn syrup and cost of bottle/can cleanup in states with no bottle/can deposit laws.)
Therefore: Cost under capitalist system= partly paid for by taxpayers
Cost under socialist system= paid for by taxpayers, just like Police and Fire Departments.
Added savings: Cost of dental/health care after drinking treated Great Lakes Water: 0.
Of course, those of you righties who drink Pepsi from a source other than Cobo Hall are still going to pay for a teamster to deliver the stuff.
Really, why not move to Guatemala already where there are no unions and no taxpayer subsidized water treatment plants, thus no drinkable "socialist" water? [[But plenty of cheap Pepsi)
Not to worry. I generally like your posts, though I may not always agree with you. I've been a target for a long time, probably due to my big mouth. So I've learned to let most of it roll off of my back. Generally, you'll find I make fun of myself more than anyone else. Huh?

Could you please address your issues with Maxx in a private behind the scenes message? This shit isn't funny anymore Sstashmoo.

This isn't your "blog" DetroitDad.
I cannot believe there was this much discussion over a convenience store charging a convenience price.
There's a water fountain around the corner
My comment wans't intended to be offensive, but it annoys me when people tell me what I should and shouldn't be eating. It's the same as infringing on my personal liberty.Translation: "I can't control telling you about Maxx's hang up on always telling others how to live. Does me drinking a bottle of Pepsi really affect your life or bother you somehow?

I just think it is. That's it. Because you think it isn't a part of the debate doesn't make it true. Some people here, not necessarily you, just want to rant and rave. Their own point of view is the only one they care about. To me, those points are cogent to the discussion at hand.
