Its a good time.......
Going to try to hook up with A2dj this afternoon. He's in LA for Kendra's hospitalization this week over at UCLA. That's right next door to me, so we'll hook up, hopefully, this afternoon. Gonna' be great to see someone from the past--an A2 veteran. Now we have two Garwood family members that get some best wishes sent their way, right? I thought so.
From what I can remember, Hoover was always "planning to stay medicated for a few days."
Looks like Dusty to me, but, allot younger from when I new him. Is that a high school photo?Candyman and Gus, is this the same Dusty you guys were talking about? Sorry but this is the only, old water stained faded foto I've got of him.

Ruth, I received my ticket yesterday for the reunion- Thank You. I can't wait to match the names to faces. I've seen some younger faces from Breeze & Lindas' wedding pictures but I'm sure we've all changed since then!
Hi Ruth,
I received my tickets this afternoon. Thank you!
I look forward to meeting all the Garwood folks for the first time.
Can I get a sitrep on Hoover?
Everybody!
I found this photo of Oklahoma Mike . He is wearing that pink tiedye shirt he seemed to wear always.
Its a good photo of him and I wanted to put some info with it but someone told me he had passed away.
I wondered if anyone had any information on him. I want to pay proper respects of course. John
John, I think Gus would probably be the best person to fill you in on OK Mike. I used to see him up until a couple years before he passed away, but I think he and Gus were tight right up to the end. At least I remember Gus calling me and telling me about it when it happened.
Larry, that was just a polaroid of an old friend that somebody snapped when he was shaving or something. It was actually taken in an apartment out on 11th street if that rings a bell. I think he bought the farm not too long after that.
Yeah, I remember posting that on the old thread. The last time I saw OK Mike was Monday, October 17th, 1983. He and Gus were at my place and we watched the Monday Night Football game. Highest scoring game in Monday night history. Packers beat the Redskins 48-47. Hell of a game. Mike left after the game and that was the last time I saw him. Great guy.
1Kdrive I love Domonicks! I love hangin out on the porch with a big jellie jar of wine and people watching. It's one of my fave spots in A2..Is'nt it amazing that those places are still there?#1. Dominicks, or Dom's as it's affectionately called, on Monroe between State and Tappan next to the Law School. Dom passed away a few years ago. #2. The Brown Jug. It was remodeled a while ago but it's basically the same jug.

glad there's a gathering on JUne 14 at Gallup Park - if anybody needs a ride tell me... to continue the festivities- and sure that there'll be some acoustic guitars there...with food and drink...should be a Bash ...
...lets remember Mr Hoover goes under the knife tomorrow-will be in the hospital for a coupla days....hoping he climbs out of that in good fashion...
John.....Oklhoma Mike is without a doubt, hands down, 100% guaranteed. absolutely one of the finest people I've ever known--hands down. I wrote a song about him. Gus says he has a basement type recording of it. I sure hope so. I remember shedding a tear or two when OG or Sug posted that he had died some years back. He was a good man. I miss him.
Wellllll....now! A little dancing in the moon.............light, Mr. Hoover?

If you're talking about one of the best and oldest micro-brewery/brew pubs in Detroit and Michigan, it's the Motor City Brewing Works [[MCBW) at Canfield and Second. Try the Ghetto Blaster. For all you former Cass Corridorites, it's located in the parking lot of the Traffic Jam & Snug restaurant, kitty corner from the Sheridan Apartments, former home of Open City. The Bronx Bar is about a block north. John Linardos, artist, owner and Brewmaster, makes the best beers. He learned from one of the best in the business - Tommy Burns. Tommy was a lawyer - Michigan Grad who moved from A2 to Portland, OR, to attend Lewis and Clark Law School in the early 80's. He happened in to the start of the brewpub revolution in this country. While obtaining a law degree he also became a Master Brewer. Tommy often told me that he ultimately wanted to be remembered as a Master Brewer, much more so than as a lawyer. Unfortunately, Tommy became sick with cancer and left us at a young age. He used his legal knowledge, experience as a brewer, and political connections to team up with Ben Edwards and Richard Vincent, owners [[at that time) of the Traffic Jam and Larry Bell of the Bell's Kalamazoo Brewery, to change the law in Michigan, allowing micro breweries and brew pubs. If I ever own another business, I'll place Tommy's picture right up high on the wall, as the godfather of the latter day brewing movement in Michigan.
Dgrrl80, if you make it to Detroit, I'll take you to the MCBW, or you can take me. Maybe we can get Dgrrl313 to join us. MCBW is now serving Neapolitan style pizza - fresh ingrediants daily, brick oven baked at high heat and served with a cold one from their tanks. John, being an artist and good promoter, has nice, one night, art shows on wednesdays. There are a few good bars to crawl to in the neighborhood.
