I get it, those that have things are reluctant to give them up to those who don't have things that would have no problem taking your things from you. Got it.

or maybe we should all have voted to go to iraq since it too will be paid out over our childrens lifetime..unless we through providing good healt care get people working and the debt is paid off sooner...but I "get it" you have to be healthy to work...get it

he would been a contributor to greater good more had his foot not been removed...funny how when people are well they can work...and when they are sick they can't....amazing correlation.... kind a like more the people work the more they pay taxes... the less the burden....

simple yes...but again if the bnill hadn't passed would the next administration or should i say the minority party tried to fix health care on their own? oh thats right they had eight years to do so and they didn't....besides there will be admendments to this as it gets flushed out...but at least it's a start...or if you don't love America...you can move to another country [[ ummm...where have we heard that)...but chances are they would have health care there too...so sorry

I don't think that johnsmith specified poor people. One could also say that the politicians, lawyers, insurance companies, bureaucrats, and pharmaceuticals who have been profiting from our health care system are the thieves. They heal noone. They just gourge themselves. They are still at the trough in Mugabecare.

By the way, Mugabecare does not allow us to buy cheaper drugs from Cuba or even Canada through the mail. I guess the pharmaceuticals didn't like that idea. The plan was more about corporatist control than cutting costs or freedom. We can't even go to Cuba to get all that outstanding discount rate Cuban healthcare because our government still won't let us.

Sometime on another thread you will have to explain the relationship between governments that provide health care and also draft anyone for any purpose. I hope you will discuss the concepts of 'citizen' vs. 'subject'.The teachers weren't drafted though. They get paid. If they don't like their jobs or who comes into their classrooms, they can quit.

The guy working in the field would probably be making enough money to be paying for his own health care if our government hadn't shipped off so many Americans jobs and allowed in millions of illegal immigrants willing to work for less money doing the remaining jobs. Since those two things have been going on, American workers have lost 2/3 of their buying power because the nation's assets have gravitated to the rich and their paid for politicians. If you are going to talk about thievery, the larger concern should be for the loss of buying power that our elected leaders have stolen from us that has so many people here looking for hand outs from the thieves who stole our means of support.

[QUOTEWhen was the last time a boatload of American refugees washed up on the shores of Cuba?[/QUOTE

Actually, if you ever left your dull suburban hole, you might be able to comment on things that happen in other parts of the world. For example, if you ever went to Cuba, you would find that boatloads of old pasty men from all over Europe and North America are constantly washing up on Cuba's shores in search of comely Cuban women. Many of them are buying condos or renting places to live there.

Mugabe care, for the third time, is [[a) a response to rb not liking the term 'Obamacare' and [[b) highlights the similarity between Mugabe's takeover of Zimbawe's agriculture with Obama's takeover of health care. The first was a dramatic failure and the second will be a failure. Both assume that the same strategies of deficit spending and government management will somehow make things better and ignore the damage such policies have caused in the past. One need only look at the high unemployment levels that had soared under President Obama and have hardly decreased even though President Obama has outdone President Bush's efforts to bankrupt the country.

It's interesting and telling that some folks who have little in the way of numbers to contribute to a conversation fall back onto racist platitudes like calling people racists. During the campaign, how many times did we hear that people who were against Obama were racist? More recently, all tea party participants have been stereotyped as racists. The tea party crowd obviously can't be wanting a smaller government living within its means. No, obviously they are all racists. What mental and intellectual laziness to be stereotyping large groups of people!

The mere mention of Mugabe is now cause to be doing the lame race baiting bit. Never mind that Mugabe has earned world class name recognition for destroying his economy and currency. Comparing Obama with Hitler would also be tempting because Obama's economic policies promote economic fascism. However, that would be overkill since Hitler killed a lot of people. Mugabe is a kindler, gentler man than Hitler. So Mugabe is a better fit to make my point. Maybe I am missing something here. I think that some of you believe that it is unfair to grade Africans or Blacks by the same standards, perhaps because in your minds they aren't capable and therefore to mention any personal failures on their parts is somehow unfair or racist.

Plain and simple; Obama is screwing up the economy, as has Mugabe, and they can't hide behind race. Of course, since Obama is 50% white, maybe his shortcomings, whether genetic or especially cultural, are the fault of his mother. Libs who call everyone racist remind me of Republicans who make a big deal about homosexuality until they get caught or out themselves.

ejames - copy this so you won't have to rely on your memory and ask a fourth time.

I think the intention of covering everyone for any illness that may come thier way is a noble and wonderful dream, but the reality is that a nation at the level of debt as we are, on the brink of financial collapse with inflation about to go off the charts, can not afford to impliment these types of pipe dreams. If we, as individuals, were budgeting annually for expenses a hundred times our income, how could we possibly be stupid enough to expand our spending?

Great dream, noble cause, but we are just plain broke as a nation, and our government is beyond any sustainable size.

It's another way to 1) continue a propaganda campaign of fear and 2) pretend there's an impending inflation crisis all in one neat little term.

As to your second point, where do you think consistently spending beyond our means is going to eventually end up? I could almsot understand the point if an argument could be made that we're only deficit spending our way out of the recession. But, if the White House claims its spending is bringing us out of the recession, then why do they have to have another year of record deficit spending in 2011? How do you see us returning to deficit neutral, yet alone, actually paying off our debt?

As to your first point, I won't even go into details about how boths sides use gross exaggerations and misrepresentations to bring about emotions that block out any arguments on a logical level. Best way to deal with that is look at resumes when you vote. Lawyers, polysci, and actors, out. Businessmen, accountants, scientists, and engineers, in.
