Thank you all for the kind words and thank you even more for what each of you has brought to this forum and all you have taught me about this great international city we all love.

So what did I do today? I combined a couple of interests present and past. I grew up in rural small towns in Michigan and Wisconsin so the first ruins I saw were the decaying farms of a rapidly shrinking rural America. Some reminders of that were seen today as I packed my camera and drove across the sprawl edge of Detroit along Pontiac Trail toward Ann Arbor. The classic gambrel roof barn [I learned the word gambrel from this forum]...

...and the one room school house [Pract School District - Plymouth-Salem - 1877] were the anchors of our country 100 years ago.

Today the sprawl marches on, encroaching on farmlands and leaving urban cores to waste away in their wake.

My destination? A visit to the Big 10 Wrestling Championships at Crisler Arena, a flashback to my eight years as a high school and university wrestler.
