Sorry, Django. Usually when folks talk about a shop [[pawn or antique) with 2 "older guys" who are quite the characters, I assume they are talking about dad and Joe. There is another rival antique shop just down the street from them, too. The two shops are constantly in competition with each other. Dad and Joe [[and the rival shop owner) remind me of the characters in "Grumpy Old Men"!

Yeah, maybe I went on a bad day. Some of the customers where really "grim" and glaring and it was crowded, like a Monday after a really bad weekend run at the casino's ! People were lined up thick pawning what ever they had! In any event, I was able to hang, hung out for a while and sort dug the variety of stuff!

Also I heard that a new reality TV show is being filmed there.

This thread should come in handy since my house got burglarized last night, and I'm going to have to start hitting up pawn shops looking for my stuff.

Be sure to check out the flea market dump on Van Dyke, at Davison I believe. It's on the west side near some railroad tracks, iirc. Lots of stolen stuff turns up there, guys selling shit out of their cars.

Oh, I am so sorry to hear this BOD. Theft and break-ins are the main things I find hard about living in the city... Especially in-as-much as the "attitude" is so dog-gone non-chalant on the part of the thieves and law enforcement!!

I resent that my possessions are subject to theft daily and the "steal, scrap, and strip" mentality/ culture is engaged to look the other way. This is especially true for those living in a single dwelling homes, where b&e's are really up.

There used to be a place in Pontiac, and dispite the name "Reliable Music and Pawn" was a really honest place. He had everything in there from vintage guitars and amps to really nice jewelry. It was right by Phoenix plaza.

BOD, you only have so many days to find your items. Many of the pawn shops are selling the gold jewelry for scrap and not putting it in the cases to sell. No one has the extra cash to buy goodies like that. I rec'd a zillion different time frames when I asked abt how long they are supposed to keep pawned items before selling or getting rid of the gold for scrap. It averaged 2 weeks. That is supposed to be the time frame the police are taking a look-see at the pawned items hopefully searching for your items. [[It doesn't happen that way. I know first hand.) Take drawings, serial numbers, and pictures of anything that you may have lost that is unique. Leave the pics and drawings with the owners along with your phone number. Ask questions. Check back with them often. They get tons of stuff in everyday. I got back some of my jewelry because I had a ring that was engraved with a silly saying. After visiting over 20 shops, I stopped in one place and the owner remembered seeing it. Bingo-bango...4 months later [[and 6 court visits)...we have one jerk eating peanut butter and jelly at Macomb Jail every day for the next 6 months. Be persistant. Miracles DO happen!! Good luck.
