Pam,
I am watching it now. Thank you this is excellent. This subscriber also has the full cut of the Singing Nun.
I love that movie and I am going to watch it after I finish with your recommendation.
Thank you for the link.

Avatar is a strange one...visually amazing, lots of action.
Then, the bad news....a scolding of Americans for the native American Indian's plight, and a whole bunch of mystical environmental pagan quasi religious mumbo jumbo.
I saw this last week. Quite unusual, but I'd have to put it as one of the top five films I've ever seen. Starring Jeff Goldblum.
"Adam Resurrected" follows the story of Adam Stein, a charismatic patient at a mental institution for Holocaust survivors in Israel, 1961. He reads minds and confounds his doctors, lead by Nathan Gross. Before the war, in Berlin, Adam was an entertainer--cabaret impresario, circus owner, magician, musician--loved by audiences and Nazis alike until he finds himself in a concentration camp, confronted by Commandant Klein.
I picked up "Julie & Julia" for Mrs. Lodge and we watched it last night. Meryl Streep is brilliant, which you've probably already heard. In fact, I saw little reason for the Amy Adams parts of the film. I realize it was based on the book and this woman and her blogging, but really, who cares? The book, the blog, the film, whatever, none of it matters without Julia Child, so just make a movie about Julia Child. I think that would have been better.
well, its that time of year, and if you switch channels often enough, youll see it......
actually, its one of my favorite ....
I just love Mary and that scene between old George Bailley and Mary, the time when George drops in to Marys house, and then ends up talking to Sam Wainwritght about metals and investing money in plastics.........
truly one of a kind acting...........Happy Holidays from Jane in Texas
Classics...in this context, of course "Citzen Kane" must be mentioned.
Hogwosh...American ingenuity and quality work would make it DESPITE, not because of socialist underwriting.
A favorite of mine, one which received little attention, is "Nobody's Fool." It's probably about ten years old, so to speak. Basically, it's what is usually called a "character study" about a guy [[superbly portrayed by Paul Newman) whose life has not turned out exactly like he wanted, but who is making the best of it, with "mixed reviews" from the folks in that life. The acting, all around, is terrific; Newman is accompanied by Jessica Tandy, Melanie Griffith, Bruce Willis, Dylan Walsh, and Philip Seymour Hoffman [[probably the first time I saw him.) Robert Benton directed.
It may sound like a Whole Lotta Nothin,' but I think it's a great movie.
Ravine, I love that movie and my husband recently surprised me with a copy. Great stuff. Read the book by Richard Russo if you haven't - also very good.
no, not really.
look what happened to his second best film - the Magnificent Ambersons. that movie is an example of the corporate media meddling in the arts. The studio did the re-edit themselves. it is only a testament to Welles' greatness that, even butchered, the film is a masterpiece. then look at how the corporate system treated Welles from then out -- truly disgusting. American ingenuity wins out IN SPITE of the corporate system
That very process and allowing for the failure in a market system results in self correction over time. No such mechanism exists with government control.
Back to the movies!
Adam Beach is Dog Creek First Nations from Manitoba. He has been in a lot of movies When I like an actor, I try to follow all his or her movies.
In Flags of our Fathers he played Ira Hayes, the Tohono O'odham man who helped raise the flag on Iwo Jima. He played Wind Talker Ben Yahzee. In the Tony Hillerman mystery series including Coyote Waits, he brought Navajo officer Jim Chee to life.
He also played Squanto, and had roles in Native produced movies including Smoke Signals and Dance Me Outside. There is quite a list of other movies and TV roles he has played here:

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way,
when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.
Anything with Buster Keaton.
Hogwash. If he hadn't been able to continue working in the theatre, how else would Hollywood have discovered him? Hard to make films when you are an Okie or a Hobo.
Now that was a great movie about Okies, Grapes of Wrath.
Cripes, Ray, enough with the I'm-so-ancient stuff. Al Kaline is older'n you-- he turned 75, a coupla days ago!!-- and I'll betcha, if he was given about ten minutes to field some fly balls to Right Field in Comerica Park [[gotta learn the turf & walls, y'know,) he could play it better than Ordonez, easy, and he wouldn't do that goddam stupid feet-first slide-catch bullshit for which Magglio is well-known for clumsily attempting on the way to fumbling the play.
Dang. Started out kidding Ray, ended up dogging Magglio Ordonez... in a thread about movies!!
Please excuse the 'jack, gang. Carry on.
'S okay, Ravine; my mind wanders too. I meant to say "Anything with Laurel and Hardy"...........
I've never seen the original but have seen the remake. That was excellent.
I'll have to try to see the original.
Ray: That's a little better. Next up: Ray1936 tells the story of how he taught Connie Mack about filling out a lineup card!!
Ray, you're the best. Happy Holidays to you & yours, Officer.
You don't have to be ancient to like Buster. He has fans of all ages.
I don't know why all of my recent picks have leaned towards the Holocaust, but I've seen some great acting. Try "Taking Sides" with Harvey Keitel.
