Sstashmoo would have everyone live in squalor if they were unable to find work, unable to care for their families, etc.
People who talk like this are indoctrinated into a political ideology that demands complicity and adhearance to the party line. There is no freedom of thought, exchange of ideas, or meeting of the minds.
Just look at the number of Republican votes on any of Obama's policy initiatives- zero. This is unprecedented in modern politics. Not even one Republican vote. Anyone who says Republicans are anything more than rubber-stamp locksteppers are sadly misguided.
It must be killing so many Republicans NOT to vote for Obama's initiatives, since they are perfectly suited to enriching the wealth class of corporate America- their favored constitutents, but sadly, they have to appeal to the mentality of their voting constituents who are blinded by partisanship, and expect their elected officials to simply obstruct everything by saying no.
It's the rhetoric of the Republican party, and has been for decades now. It's a bankrupt ideology based on fear and consequence. It negates the basic facts of society as it has always existed, as a communal environment.
As the world grows smaller, they are good at extracting the resources and labor to aggregate their wealth and power, but cling to the idea that a narrow view of the world- their world- is all that matters, and to hell with everyone else.
It's a philosphy doomed to failure from many angles, and we are seeing the decline as we speak. There will always be many more have-nots populating the earth, and the Republicans ignore them at their own risk.
The rich in any society never learn their lessons. History is fraught with the downfalls of enitre civilizations due to the apathy and greed of the controlling powers.
We are in one of those times now, in my view, and unless drastic change toward a communal existence takes place, we will witness the decline of America.
The health care debate, the involvement of Christofascist American televangelists and southern politicians in the legislative affairs of Uganda are all symptoms of the greater disease.
As I have mentioned in other threads, Obama showed early promise. Unfortunately in his first year in office, we see that there is no real difference in either party when it comes to enacted policy.
I would suggest strapping on the safety belts, folks, it's only going to get rougher from here out.
