For the past 11 years, Pure Detroit has been rocking the retail world in downtown Detroit — obviously not a very easy thing to do. They've got a big party coming up to celebrate at the Magic Stick on Friday, Dec. 11 — bands like the Silent Years, Phat Kat Big Band w/ Will Sessions and the Great Fiction are playing as well as artists showing like Cedric Tai, Tony Roko and Gwen Joy.

I remember the first time I entered the Guardian Building and bought myself a "Detroit Funk" t-shirt — it was like discovering some sort of hidden treasure. I always wondered where a lot of Detroit retail was, and I finally had found a little chunk of it. You guys got any fond memories of Pure Detroit or discovering "treasures of retail" around the city? Please share!
