First of all, there are not many Spanish people in Harlem; perhaps the ranting one is talking about Dominicans, who are from an island in the Caribbean and speak a language known as Spanish, as opposed to Spanish people, who are from the Iberian Peninsula and speak Spanish, Catalan, Gallego and sometimes Basque.

Second, anyone who's spent time in New York City knows that there are always epic turf battles over real estate being fought. Precisely why fascism is the correct term to describe the frauds and follies of the Bush Crime Family. Blending of government and private enterprise to where there is no measurable difference is precisely what happened.

The giveaways to corporate America, including the "ownership society" bullshit was designed to fleece people out of their homes so a few well connected hedge funds could come in behind and clean up handsomely. It's government co-opted, in many ways owned by corporate wealth interests, designed to destroy the middle class and get their hands on any real property out there.
