Is Dfunky Revaldulton under yet another new name? I think UFO was his last one.
Either that, or paleopat. Your choice, same old crap..
Why are you so pissed about this anyway? Shouldn't you be all about CU expanding? After all, as a private education institution, in the fairness of capitalism, the best thing for the economy, nay, their RIGHT is to expand! If the surrounding communities can't handle it, then they need to work harder to afford to stay where they are right?Step back and look at the bigger picture. Government oversteps and gets pushed back [[or not), do you think that will stop the march forward? Heck no, they will keep on chipping away until they have taken over everything, the set back is barely noticeable to them.
We need to go deeper to fix this....reformation of a more libertarian and conservative [[small government) Republican party, and kick out all liberal progressives [[regardless of party) replacing them with the reformed conservatives.
methinks Revaldulton is back as papasito, although I see the possible connection: there's that obvious obsession with RAL as if a greasy preacher was some sort of liberal icon....
but I've gotten off topic.
First of all, there are not many Spanish people in Harlem; perhaps the ranting one is talking about Dominicans, who are from an island in the Caribbean and speak a language known as Spanish, as opposed to Spanish people, who are from the Iberian Peninsula and speak Spanish, Catalan, Gallego and sometimes Basque.
Second, anyone who's spent time in New York City knows that there are always epic turf battles over real estate being fought. I remember the summer that I hung out in East Village and walked unaware within a block of a riot in Thompkins Square Park [[Anarchist/Squatters Vs Police/Forces of gentrification).
Guess who won?
[[hint: The battle was sparked over a low income building, Cristadora House, being converted to market rate housing).
[[second hint: I walked through East Village again 15 years later and there was hardly a Puerto Rican to be seen).
Now, on to a threadjack: What's your favorite part of New York City and why?

Actually it's "stalag", "Berkeley" is the correct spelling and should be capitalized.
The fried turkey testicles are truly fascinating. Tell us, how do they taste? What do they look like?
huh ? "Liberals" ?
A right winger calling "liberals" greedy ?
WTF ?
The right wing in America is based on pure bottomless greed, and it steadfastly places profit motive above human life - and before patriotism or anything else. Money is god. Most right wingers are unashamedly proud of this philosophy. Rarely do I hear one pretending not to be part of this school of thought, let alone accusing "liberals" of being like the greedy right wing corporate boot lickers.
Very odd indeed.
Todays headline:
"Pot calls Kettle black"
Now, the "liberals" are humans like anybody, so of course many of them can be greedy individuals. But that does not in any way mean that the "liberal" movement is based on lustful greed, as the right wing movement is.
For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. - Timothy 6:10
D.mcc...Columbia is the same place that hosted Amhedinajad....as left as you get.
Regardless, capitalism is not about favoritism, it is about just and equal opportunity to compete and the right to what is one's individual property [[material and intellectual).
Captialism is all about favoritism; otherwise, how do you concentrate capital?
Which is the whole idea...unless you've redefined that, as well.
Funny, because by most standards Amhedinajad would be considered right-wing...
The oddest thing about American Wing Nuts is how much contempt they hold for right wing nutjobs in other societies...That is one of the reasons some of us refer to them as a "sick cult".
Sorry, but Amhedinajad is a right wing fascist, rather like the Bush Crime Family or the current leadership in both Israel and Uganda.
So, apparently you didn't see any of the Q&A with Mr. Amhedinajad where the so called uber-liberal students tended to rip him a new one with each question. I admire Columbia for hosting the man and allowing our right of free speech to make him look like a buffoon in front of the international and national media.
WTF?!?!?!?!
This dfunky guy makes me long for the days of Craigd and Steelers!!!!
Saw and heard the Q&A just fine...he should not have been given the respect of being invited in the first place.
Iran's Ahmedenijad is the dictatorial appointed authoritarian leader of Iran...yes, that is fascist ad authoritarian.
That bears zero resemblance to the center right Bush ideology

What about Bush ideology was ever center right? LOL!!!
Obama is center right.
The Bush Crime Family was far-right reactionary/fascist as we have never experienced before in this country.
Barnesfoto, love those images. Routinely this was done by the Bush Crime Family, dating as far back as the Gulf War when "masses" of Iraqi troops were shown in aerial shots to be assembling on the borders of Kuwait and were used to convince the Saudis to allow Poppy Bush to build the Bin Sultan Air Base in their holy land.
Nothing like ginning up war to suit your needs.

Not that Bush was a liberal, but he certainly wasn't a fiscal conservative. I prefer the term 'corporatist' to fascist though. The following are quotes from Ezra Klein-
"The roll call is impressive: No Child Left Behind, Sarbanes-Oxley, McCain-Feingold, the Medicare prescription drug bill and the bankruptcy bill. To make a bit of a heretical point, most of those cases prove that Bush’s domestic agenda was a capitulation to liberalism. NCLB and the Medicare prescription drug bill were both longtime Democratic ideas.
The problem with NCLB was implementation, and while the problem with Medicare Part D was that its design was a giveaway to drug companies, it was also hundreds and hundreds of billions funneled towards the largest expansions of Medicare since the program’s creation.
Health-care reform, in particular, would likely be impossible if the prescription drug benefit hadn’t been accomplished. There’d be no way to add that money to the bottom line of the bill and pay for everything. Democrats owe Bush a debt of gratitude for tossing that onto the deficit."
"Expanding minority home ownership was a key Republican initiative. It was a central part of the Bush Administration's "Ownership Society.""The President also announced the goal of increasing the number of minority homeowners by at least 5.5 million families before the end of the decade." http://www.anonymousliberal.com/2008...ownership.html
God bless Ezra!
Precisely why fascism is the correct term to describe the frauds and follies of the Bush Crime Family. Blending of government and private enterprise to where there is no measurable difference is precisely what happened.
The giveaways to corporate America, including the "ownership society" bullshit was designed to fleece people out of their homes so a few well connected hedge funds could come in behind and clean up handsomely. It's government co-opted, in many ways owned by corporate wealth interests, designed to destroy the middle class and get their hands on any real property out there.
Fascism is really too kind a word for this bunch.
Does anyone here really take dfunk seriously with his bait and run posts?
