Hi 1KielsonDrive and Novine [[and others),
Obviously something must be done. As far as debates go, with me, you guys won this round. [[I hate it when people debate and talk past each other and don't admit good points the other side made.)

For me to continuing debating in a fruitful way, I would have to come back with some good alternatives to Obama's plan. Like I said, something must be done.

Which leads to another major problem I have with the plan is that it is unfunded. Why build something that is going to fall apart?

Also I don't like the process. Right now, I don't even know what passed in Congress. The Democrats kept trying to ram the legislation through without any discussion. They tried to pass it during the summer before their August vacations. They rushed it through again Sat night [[was that when it was passed), not allowing it to be read, apparently not even allowing the promised 72 hours before the vote. I guess they do that because they figure it would be picked apart and not passed. So they ram through what they have.

So I don't like the process.

But Novine and 1KielsonDrive made some great points, so I will either reply to those or keep quiet.

they will decrease service, yes they will
they will cut medicare by billions and transfer the money to obamadontcare.

Why do so many Canadians come to the US for healt care? Because it is the best in the world
and they won't get fined of they do.

    No free healthcare.
2.5% tax if you dont buy the governments plan....or up to 5 years in prison with $250,000 fine.

Pay or prison, the socialist model of care. Its about power not health care.
If you love socialism, hate America and freedom then support this plan.
mrrichard, go back to watching your Faux Noise Network and listening to Rushie baby. You haven't added one single thing to our debate that hasn't been dispensed by the Fox Noise makers. If you care to tell us a personal experience that has really affected you, something other than stories you've heard from teevee, talk radio and the internet, we'll listen.

Bear, that's seriously funny. I love it when people can add sarcasm, facetiousness and humour and still make their point, all in good fun. Sometimes the BS that's swirling all around us is too much to not make fun of.

Thanks Rick, I appreciate we're still talking about Health Care Reform. I agree it's a shame we don't know what the final bills contain. I've actually responded to advocacy groups I've supported until now, that I'll no longer actively work [[phone calls, emails, forwards, etc) until I witness bills moving through congress and I'm able to see the sausage being created. But it's not just on the Demicans that we don't know what's transpiring, it's also on the Republicrats. Until most Americans realize that they're doing themselves no justice by blindly following one party or the other [[can you believe we only have two parties? That's a duopoly, an anti-competitiive, duopoly) we may never get past this partisan bullshit. And, I believe, that's exactly what the two parties want. I've often compared the political parties to Alabama v Auburn, Southern Cal v UCLA, Michigan v Ohio State. One big, drunken brawl, my team against your team.

War is easy to embark upon when you have 8 years of wealthy draft dodging chicken hawks sending other people's kids over to extract our oil that is under their sand. Health Care is like justice, it's the best money can buy.

I admit I haven't done much research or read all of the articles on this issue.

But here's my two-cents worth to stir the pot:

Why does the sole focus seem to be on insurance costs? Why is no one looking at lowering the cost of the product? Each facet of the health care industry is grossly over priced. Some more than others. I know the pharmacuetical companies have to roll in the cost of research. And the hospitals and doctors have to have insurance too. But a recent trip to the ER and a less than 40 hour stay in the hospital would have cost me $10,000+. Granted I had numerous tests, but COME ON!!!!! Three surgeons saw me for an average of 10 minutes each, and each one billed for over $100. EGADS!!!!!!
