The Georgia Street Community Collective has recently received some terrific news!
We have been contacted by an architectural intern from Seattle, Washington who has heard about our efforts to improve our community and the plan we have to create the Community Center. Through some grant funding that is available to her, the intern has very graciously offered to donate the time necessary to draw up the plans for our Center. She will be visiting us after the first of the year to see first hand what we have and what we would like to do.
She is also hoping to help us obtain some funding. But even if this does not happen, just having a firm set of plans will help us go to other organizations to try to get some grant money.
In other news: Two members of the GSCC Board of Directors gave lectures to students at Oakland University and Oakland Community College, after being requested to do so by Prof. Arthur Galvan. The students were very interested in how our organization began and how we hope to improve our community. We thank Prof. Galvan for asking us to participate in his classes.
Thank you to all of our Friends of Georgia Street for helping us throughout the year. Please see our new thread in the "Connect" section regarding our upcoming events....or check our website at www.georgiastreetcc.com
