In The News today, Michael Hodges reviews a six-person exhibit opening with a Saturday evening reception and subtitled "Paintings Inspired by the Metro Detroit Landscape."The artists are Clinton Snider, Taurus Burns, Darcel Deneau, Bryant Tillman, Nicole Macdonald and Laura Macintyre. These realistic portraits of the real Detroit -- no glossing-over here -- are rendered with such skill and palpable affection that they virtually rebuke the easy cliches about America's most-beleaguered city.
Indeed, at their best, they offer a way of seeing the city that many might find oddly reassuring.
