Default HMCS Hunter building in downtown Windsor eyed for housing

A naval reserve base for over 70 years, the old HMCS Hunter has been vacant and decaying for over a decade like much of Windsor's core. Great opportunity' — Feds eye Windsor's HMCS Hunter for housing | Windsor Star

That building has some nice art deco elements that are reminiscent of those of the Brodhead Naval Armory by Belle Isle. It appears to have had an uglifying remodeling using pebble board. It would be nice if they restored that. This from December 31, 1929 issue of the Windsor Star via internationalmetropolis.com.

This city is so backward. I doubt anything will happen with it. The city would rather spend $11m building a glass shed to house a discarded streetcar at the foot of Caron Ave by the waterfront rather than turn this place back into a much needed downtown farmer's market which could also house said streetcar like the Covent Garden Market in downtown London Ontario. The 90,000 sq. ft building was originally built as the Martin Marketorium in 1929 to house a giant food market. In 1944, it was repurposed to house the HMCS Hunter that later left downtown for Sandwich west.
