^ that’s kinda strange, taken in custody means arrested, arrest records are public, would not the reporter be able to check the arrest records and see who it is without LEOs saying anything ?

Unlike Florida, Michigan doesn't only suffer from a dearth of sunshine in the Winter, we also lack real "Sunshine law". Our elected officials love to make information difficult to access, especially when it doesn't align with their political narrative.

According to the Free Press the suspect has been arrested but not charged. So I’m not sure how a reporter would figure out who they have arrested.
Up to 72 hours max without charging,so either they have been released now or charged.
Booking photos are public record just as they are in California

Difference between a reporter and an investigative reporter.
But even the CNN article is conflicting,it reads “arrested” in the headline but DPD says “ taken into custody “ which the CNN article repeats but it is 2 different things.
