Default New $35 million city hall esplanade endorsed by Windsor city council

There have been proposals to transform the stretch of land from Windsor city hall to Dieppe Park going back to the 60's but nothing ever came of it. City hall plaza designs spark enthusiasm from council [[msn.com)

City Council has become so ridiculous lately. What is wrong with current Espanade? I did a 10 minute walking tour of the Espanade two months ago and there's nothing wrong it. That money could be better spent on fixing some of Windsor's badly broken roads near downtown. Just take a look at Giles Ave from Ouellette to Bruce. It's so badly busted up it's disgraceful. It's like driving over a couple dozen speed bumps. Or how about Wyandotte Street West near Adie Knox? Even converting the long vacant Windsor Arena barn into a long needed indoor Farmer's Market would be far better than this.

Below is a video of the Espanade. There's a bunch of monuments there. Can someone tell me what's wrong with it and why it needs a $35m makeover? It's just as ridiculous as Council's recent proposal to spend $5m to redo Sandpoint Beach--I also did a walking tour of it back in December. Nothing wrong with what we've got. City Council needs to get their priorities straight.

Sounds like both sides of the river share the same Council.

Like many city hall esplanades it's mostly empty but I don't see how it could be activated so that it would be used much when you've got the riverfront parks so nearby.
