Default Detroit's 1st Dog Park and Beer Garden planned for West Village

Detroit's first Dog Park is coming to the West Village neighborhood.

Detroit’s first dog park and beer garden, Barkside, planned for late summer

Described as a social destination for dogs and their humans, Barkside is set to open this year in Detroit’s West Village neighborhood at Kercheval and Van Dyke.

More of a dog park with a bar, rather than a pub that allows dogs, Barkside will have indoor and outdoor spaces and bars that serve craft beers, canned wine and spritzers and nonalcoholic drinks, including a full coffee bar.

The business was developed by two Detroit dog owners, David Oh and Cody Williams, who both have finance degrees from Michigan State University.

Lol we have had them for years, call it what you want it is still a bar that allows dogs, nobody hangs out for 4 hours so fifi can walk in the dog park.

Even better, stick a food truck next to it and you have a dog park that is not a bar or restaurant. It just makes it handy to eat and get drunk, the ones we have as a rule are located next to neighborhoods where people have big back yards and no need for a dog park, but they are busy.

Interesting enough none are located around high concentrations of apartments where you would figure they would shine.

As a rule they allow people to bring their pets in any bar or restaurant, just not very conducive when they have to go potty,I always wonder how the ones with pet allergies fare, like on airplanes.

At least with a dog park you kinda would expect dogs, kinda discriminating these days calling it a dog park, what if you have a dog that identifies as a cat and is offended, how come nobody has a cat park?

MLB needs to get rid of their stupid "bark in the park" days where your dog sits for hours at a ballgame, often in stifling heat. Why would you put your dog through that?
