Here’s how road commissions are preparing
for the incoming snowstorm in Metro Detroit

Because Metro Detroit faces the prospect of not just snow but ice before the snow even hits, clearing the roads will be challenging, and driving is likely to be treacherous. The most problematic issue facing local road commissions ahead of the winter weather moving in Thursday {Dec. 22} night into Friday morning is when the expected rain turns to snow. And whether temperatures will drop so quickly, it will flash freeze the roads into ice.
6"+ snow is forecast. Stock up before Friday!

60+ and sunny here in Las Vegas. But I paid my dues for many years back in DTW land.

    Just as I predicted...

    DECEMBER

A last hurrah of cool to mild temps, followed by a sneaky Alberta Clipper snow shower, winter weather advisories and a late winter storm watches and polar plunges when we get to Christmas and New Year's via the Pineapple Express from Western part of the United States. Chance for a White Christmas is a 30-70 shot.

Sunny, dry and clear here today also. But the temps are hovering around 40, that's become much too cold.

It's all good unless you lose your power. You can't live in a house in Michigan in the middle of December with no heat. If that happens its hotel time.

We're in the thick of it. Not that much snow but it is blowing sideways and their is ice under it from last night's rain. The temp keeps dropping, now at 5F.

Well it wasn't as bad in metro Detroit as it could have been. I kept a frequent watch on the DTE Energy Outage Map, and there were a few areas with a medium sized outage, but it could have been much worse during this frigid weather.

It will not warm up above freezing until Wedesday, and the Weather Channel says that starting Thursday we should have 10 days of a high in the 40s!!

I'm dreaming for a White Christmas.
