I'm glad the US has strict machete laws.
Here is an update of who he was and some more of his troubled history.

What is equally troubling is the newspapers reporting style and how it attempts to condition the reader.
He was first shot with an Energy Weapon - cannot call it a taser because police shooting somebody with a Taser is just bad.
An Energy Weapon is so much nicer, gotta love the Canadian politeness,if you do not behave I will deploy this Energy Weapon,if you play nice,I will give you an Energy Drink and send you on your way.
They never mentioned a gun - but there was a bullet casing in the ground which most likely came from the more powerful Energy Weapon that was used after the first Energy Weapon was ineffective.
The first article, that referenced multiple witnesses, had zero mention of the first Energy Weapon being used - Man with a machete going nuts in an intersection gets shot by police.
So Three Energy Weapons in play, that would be considered non energy weapons until human interaction intervened and supplied the initial energy in order to make them become effective.
A machete
A Energy Weapon - Taser
A gun
They did not mention the word gun, because if you researched Gun voilence in Canada, this is one case that would remain in the shadows.

Someone's lunatic son or loved one. RIP.
The U.S, has an entire political party of this ilk. I look forward to saying RIP to this ilk.
To once again correct your misinformation......
TASER is not a type of weapon; TASER is a brand, a corporate trademark.
Saying the police deployed a Taser would be akin to saying the police fired their Glock.
That's not what we say. That's not what is commonly said in the U.S. in mainstream or any other media.
You say the police fired/shot their gun.
Conducted Energy Weapon is the correct terminology for this weapon.
Its not polite, its factual.
There is no conditioning.
Its 'facial tissue' not Kleenex [[a brand).
^ it’s being anal retentive
Tasers are a hand-held weapon
- In Canada, however, Tasers are a prohibited weapon. Only one company can import them into Canada under a special permit, and they can only sell the devices to law enforcement agencies, said RCMP Cpl. Greg Gillis , who trains police officers in how to use Tasers. Each Taser sale is registered and tracked, much like a handgun, he said.
Taser stands for "Thomas A. Swift Electric Rifle.
https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/facts...C%20he%20said.
Sense only one company is allowed to import them, and sell them to LEO and that brand is called Taser it identifies as a Taser and not a squirt gun.
The guy had a history of mental health issues,I thought you guys had free healthcare?
You can put lipstick and stockings on a pig and call it a date,to everybody else it will still be a pig.
But your reply shows the effectiveness of conditioning ,it works.

Stop spreading misinformation while claiming others are spreading misinformation, your government classifies Tasers as a weapon.
In the U.S. the ATF classifies a taser as a weapon

I believe Canada still has Google, unless during the conversion to dictatorship status they are now blocking the internet when it comes to outside sources.
Then it would be understandable when one takes the open mouth, insert foot approach.
