Secretary of State Drivers License Renewal appointments 2021 ?

Not for every renewal. I've had my enhanced since they were available and I have renewed by mail.

If you want to switch over to the enhanced, as my wife and I did in the summer of 2019 [[we fell for the scare tactics about not being able to board a plane) you have to be there in person with a copy of your birth certificate. If your birth certificate has your maiden name as my wife's did, you also need a copy of your marriage license. So the witch behind the counter made us make a return visit to complete the process for my wife.

For what it's worth, here in Nevada the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles [[read "Michigan Secretary of State) is every bit as fuc**d up as dear old Lansing.

You have to read online, on their website, what's required before you go. I just made several transactions, this past month, at the SOS, including enhanced license, and had no problems whatsoever. I made sure "my papers were in order" before I went down.

To be fair, the most recent registration renewal mailing I received from SoS contained far less paper than before. Maybe they're trying to be more reasonable.
