I was so hoping he would rally and pull thru.

A very sad and sobering reminder that we're still in the thick of this crisis. I wish his family, friends, and the law enforcement community the best.
He became a DPD officer in the 70's. Man, the things he must have seen. Anyway, when I heard he'd been put on a ventilator, unfortunately I knew the prognosis was bad. Most people with COVID don't come off of them.
Not exactly the cleanest record for a politician to put it lightly, but Detroit has dealt with more than one actual scoundrel and politicians far worse than Benny. He legitimately did seem like he cared about the city and county, though.
He will definitely be missed. Condolences to the family. It is bad enough to lose someone; it's even worse when he missed Thanksgiving and will now miss Christmas with his family. Jeeze, this is sad.

Benny Nepoleon was a really good man and he did his part to help making Detroit a better place. It's very sad that he lost his life to Co-Vid 19. R.I.P. Benny. U will be missed.
Thank you Benny for serving Detroit and all of Wayne County. Let God bless your soul when he accepts you in heaven.
terrible news. hoping the best for his family.
A friend of mine is a friend of his and she is heartbroken.
I'm so sad for his mother [[in her late eighties) having to bury a son. Here is a wiki on his life as recently edited:

A huge loss for metro Detroit. He left his mark on the city and the county and the people he worked with and for. Still had so much to offer. He will be missed.
RIP Benny Napoleon!!

Crazy, his older brother Hilton, was on the ventilator for over 3 months, and he survived. I believe his mother contracted it as well, and she's well in her 80's. He was a die-hard Detroit supporter, to the very end. May he RIP.
Played golf with Benny several times at Inkster Valley. Great guy, better man. We’ll miss him.
