He forgot to mention that solar and wind are quite dirty, and electric cars have a higher carbon footprint than gas ones. But I supposed he forgets a lot of things at his age.

If you make $150k and up, this isn't a big deal. But if you're lower income, this tactic is crushing to the family budget, both in terms of filling up the family car, and in what it does to food and goods prices.
Totally agree. This is going to put a lot of people and families over the edge. I saw where more and more families are relying on credit cards to make ends meet, as most of their discretionary savings has dried up.

It’s history repeating itself and showing the younger generations what it was like in the 70s.

Between costs rising which is reflecting on real estate it’s becoming a massive transfer of wealth and a lot of mid lower income are being pushed out in the streets.

But that is okay because when we tell you that we will save you will like us more.

Yellin admitted the other day that they have been wrong in inflation,it shows the massive disconnect, anybody that works or lives knows that we have been experiencing more then 6% increases in prices for a long time.

They are saying to expect $6 per gallon this summer with power outages,I think that is conservative because I am already paying $5.35 for premium.

But in all fairness we were warned from day one when she said,Americans just need to lower their expectations.

    THAT'S our moron !

It was nice of the president to hire all the colossal failures, and give them jobs in important positions like Energy Sec and Transportation sec. [Budigedge].

No WAY it could lead to any goods shipment or energy price issues.

It's starting to look more and more like the gasoline price hike is planned obsolescence. A lot of people can't afford the price hike and the rising cost of inflation associated with it. Most people don't have the money to invest in EVs. Another step towards Socialism and Government dependency. Go Uncle Joe.

^ Interesting with all of the expeditious 'planning' the US can not handle a full roll-out of EV quickly. Despite the increasing narrative of 'just shut-up-about-the-high-cost-of-gas - get an EV!' we can't even settle on who the best seller is [Elon's Tesla no longer the socially approved darling of it all]. Oh my!

But AFTER ALL, YOU do 'need' [have needed we're told] to move on to non-fossil options. What's the problem? Yet again we're no where full EV ready! Full EV conversion cannot occur as fast as our gas prices are rising. NOPE. In the meantime the poor and working/ middle class are being crushed as the purchasing value of the US dollar shrinks.

You can't full deceive people already struggling to buy groceries and pay mortgages/ rent to rush out for an expensive-to-purchase and expensive-to-maintain EV. Unless you're audience is solely those in the income bracket of 100-150+K. What about the working class and poor?

This admin's completely disconnected from the working class and poor [despite their claims of unceasing concern and affirmation].

Reality: We've an aged-elite oligarchy [with their friends and families] flanked by their academe soaked brain-children staffers etc. Defending and deflecting the obvious faux-solutions. Power is their ultimate currency - plying the working class and poor [short-term] with the occasioned 'treat' of EBT supplementation?

You're told not to believe your LYING eyes regarding the out-of-control inflation. Detroit will be especially impacted.

This will go on a bit longer as the money is printed for favored projects and give-aways. It'll all be presented as so reasonable...

What happens the day the EBT card stops working? It ain't gonna be pretty!

The people this hurts the most are the poor, which are who the Dems are always claiming they are gonna help.

But the poor do not have enough tax liability to take advantage of the $7,500 tax rebate, nor do they have a garage in which to install a car charger.

It doesn't help the environment, and it hurts the economy and the poor.

You can thank your Democratic "first black president" Bill Clinton for signing NAPHTA, "good for the American workers". Now Uncle Joe is moving the American economy towards standing the bread line. When you see me there, I'll give you cuts.

Yet, the reality remains that the poor are loosing more ground, moving up thru the working and middle class [as the impact spreads]. Yet this admin claims to champion us oh so much.......

Yep. And this admins actions, policies, flip-flops are standing on their own increasingly more as time progresses. They own it. They loudly boast their intentions and priorities. Detroit [Michigan] may remain a purple state for a while yet, but it is so obvious who the shapers are [for now].

Breadlines? The result of core services interrupted? Say what? We'll never see those fairly 'polite' lines again in this nation ala 1932. Nope.

Civility's so broken down with many so-called traditional standards of behaviors jettisoned to the god-of-self! In the day of full systemic crash where food etc are rationed we'll have violent abject bedlam - anarchy.

    Surprising?

LOL! Look at how some people act now; yet sated with their big-screens and other creature comforts, causes, partisan distractions, and devices.

^ Oh! A 'crash'! What chu' mean? Just go get you an electric car [read my #132 post]. Problems solved.

Most greedy capitalist American's use too much energy, eat too much meat! Dial down that heat, peddle that bike. Wait! Where's my iPhone?

Can't give that up just yet.

Or much that I'm dictating you shouldn't do or have......

No friggin way I'm investing in a EV, when the technology still has a lot of problems that need to be solved. What happens if my battery dies on the Interstate with no charging station for miles? Are tow trucks going to be equipped with chargers on them to come give me a charge? Unknown. I'm retired, I can't afford one anyway.

^ I heard that. Likewise of millions of American's barely able to keep the utilities going and buy groceries now. Monitoring per our carbon footprint next?

Not everyone is making 150K to swing an EV and the newly poor ranks are increasing as the dollar shrinks. On so many levels [and expectation therein] this is all so DAMN elitist by the power brokers/ talking heads always going on about how proletarian, green-clean, and anti-riches they are. Hypocrites.

I see Japan is not going full-on electric and Toyota was one of the pioneers this half century in EV and Hybrid cars. What do they KNOW?

And the Toyota Prius Hybrid was actually a very good runner. Yet a replacement battery is about $1500 or so [refurbished]. As I said we have a complete disconnect from those dictating what everyone else should do. Promising government subsidies [treats] only furthering higher taxes/ deficits down the road. Again hurting the very folks in need. What a self-induced mess!

Remember, not 1000 years ago we were more self-sufficient and an oil exporter...........

Here are some interesting numbers. I recall hearing that most in the U.S. are unaware how much of our crude oil is imported from Canada. It was 62% from Canada versus 3% from Russia in 2021. Recent events may have changed that but it's impressive nonetheless.

    Oil and petroleum products explained

In 2021, the United States exported about 8.63 million barrels per day {b/d} and imported about 8.47 million b/d of petroleum, making the United States an annual total petroleum net exporter for the second year in a row since at least 1949.

You mean the NAFTA George signed? The one that was the brain child of Republican Dave Dreier? The one ratified in Congress by Republican majorities in both houses, with the help of Newt Gingrich[[R)? The one that had more Democrats vote against than for? Lol

Thankfully some free trade minded Democrats like Obama got rid of the Republican era, bureaucratic government obstructionist regulations, like the oil export ban, so that red blooded American companies could be free to trade their products on the world market and achieve a fair value, free of government suppression. Lol
