Correct. This is precisely why the onus is upon you to see to it that children do have the opportunity to easily view the presentation as intended. That is, together, at school.

Parents who object may keep thier children home [[laugh), or send with a note requesting their child be excused from the presentation. Another similar activity can be arranged for those children.

The correct reaction would have been more along the lines of excusing those students whose parents send written requests. The incorrect response? What is happening now.
You, I and others may contact our school administrators requesting that the presentation be shown, though admittedly we should not have to do so. And closely monitor and follow-up afterward regarding how said school administrators handle the entire situation. If they cannot or will not manage satisfactorily, take action as applicable. For some, this is the straw that broke the camel's back. Velvet gloves may start coming off.

Moo & Oink here [[Stashmoo Batson) are somethin' else.

    Regular Nostradamuses.

Toothless would describe the bullies on the Reich, and for your information, the "long dead" author of "Catcher in the Rye", J.D. Salinger you mentioned, is very much alive.

It's been on the "burn" list by the right wing village idiots for years now.

Sorry, but it still sells 250,000 new copies a year, and has since being published in 1951. So much for book burning by the Reich.

Actually, I am not advocating a boycott at all. I say let him [[Obama) hang himself with his own rope.

Is that hyperbole, or are you advocating a good ol' lynchin'?

Hyperbole of course...and you know it.

No, I guess I don't, since I don't see any outrage from the Reich on the blatantly racist, fascist attacks against Obama by the frothing base of the party.

    Only when they are warranted.

Show me your outrage with the Teagaggers, Birthers, Deathers, Astroturfers, and show me you don't support the rantings of lunatics against a sitting president, then maybe you'll look more like a centrist than a fringer.

Obamas school speech for tomorrow. Doesn't seem like anything anyone wouldn't want their children to hear.

Is this the "rope" CC is talking about? It doesn't seem too scary to me.

"This is no picnic for me, either, Buster." I love this story about Obama and his mom. I wish she had lived to see him become president.

I sure hope all those hysterical screamers will shut up now. But their Rovian tendencies will probably prompt them to seize on something innocuous in the speech and blow it into a big balloon to float and screech about.

    Default good speech

I'll give the President an A- for a pretty good speech that should keep the kids listening to his sound advice. I can't imagine what anyone would find to complain about in this speech.

The President didn't mention that he attended private schools from age 10 on. There was no need to bring it up. The privileged school he attended, today has a $17,000 annual tuition. His daughters, in turn, attend the Sidwell Friends School. " Current pupils include the grandchildren of Joe Biden,... The Obamas will pay tuition fees of $28,442 for the elementary school, where Sasha will go, and $29,442 for Malia at the middle school." Nice.

At the same time, with the way security seems to be in the public schools, at least here in Detroit, I can't see the president's kids in public school. Have any of the presidents' kids attended public school?

Oh, this speech is horrible. It's anti-American, and typical liberal indoctrination. I can't blame parents for not wanting to subject their kids to this fascist, socialist, narcissist.

Here's a brief run down of this trash that passes as a speech:

    • starts off indoctrinating us about Indonesia [[i.e.: Muslim tolerance, etc, etc.)
    • said he constantly fell asleep when he should have been awake learning
    • wants Xbox banned or regulated by the government so kids don't play over his recommended time allotment
    • trying to diminish the government's responsibility [[or failure) to the school system and blame it on the students
    • wants the government to decide what occupation students can choose
    • he talks to kindergartners about STDs -- no wonder parents don't want their kids to hear this speech
    • liberal indoctrination for "green environment" [[i.e: Al Gore and carbon credits)
    • suggesting a "socialized" solution to poverty, homelessness, and crime instead of putting the responsibility on the affected individuals
    • brought up the race card
    • scaring kids into thinking their honest, Christian, two parent families will crash and burn and become worthless atheist single parent, drug using families
    • makes excuses for failure, boo hoo sob story
    • uses an example of an illegal alien
    • advocates Spanish as a first language
    • used an example of a welfare child [[i.e.: how government assistance can help you succeed )
    • advocates for mandatory volunteer corps
    • suggested kids stay home when sick, which is a good idea, especially for this speech because it'll make real patriotic Americans sick
    • told kids they can't succeed in entertainment
    • said people that stay in trouble are not trouble makers, it's really the fault of the society around them [[gangs, drugs, racism, etc.)
    • suggested kids shut up and be programmed, don't think for yourself
    • said if you get bad grades it's because the teachers and school discriminated against you for being black, not because you screwed up
    • said no one's born with natural talents, it's all based on what society gives them
    • don't be afraid to first ask for help instead of trying something yourself, don't be afraid to just depend on the government
    • says he doesn't know what the hell he's doing in the White House and constantly has to ask advisers to help him
    • indoctrinated kids that the Civil Rights movement [[read: riots) were a really good thing for this country - yea, if society won't just hand you a life, riot and take it

The only good thing about this speech is the "stay in school" and "GOD bless America" parts. In fact, that's all he should have said.

Parents if you really love your kids and you want a bright and prosperous Christian America as our future, don't let this socialist dictator indoctrinate your kids tomorrow. Keep them home and away from the Anti-Christ.

Jimmy Carter's daughter Amy went to a public school while he was President. The Washington D.C. public school system does maintain one public school with a small enrollment near the White House just in case a President chooses to use it. Its demographics are atypical for that school system, or at least they were, while Carter was President. Still, its a public school.

Why are people still arguing about the President addressing the kids??

If you dont like what he has to say, ream his ass afterwards. He is not the first president to address school kids.

Who knows what kind of hypnotic tones the president is going to use during his speech to mesmerize young impressionable minds. Don't be surprise if your children come home Tuesday talking about universal health care. Keep your children away. If not, when they become Muslim or atheist it won't be my fault. I got my guns and ammo, I'm prepared for revolution.

If you disagree with what he says then get his ass afterwards otherwise let him do his duty like any other president.

I am totally opposed to most of the President's Socialistic views. [[I think his views are very dangerous.)

However, I read the speech earlier today and it is excellent. I have no problem with it al all. It's clearly aimed at students in inner city schools although the views expressed, if taken to heart, will benefit students from all economic backgrounds.

Crumbled_pavement, have someone re-read the speech to you - slowly - and maybe you'll comprehend it. Your idiotic "analysis" of the speech implies that the rest of us can't read English so we'll have to rely on your misrepresentation of it's content.
