Geeky trivia: In some database query languages "and" and "but" are exact synonyms. The idea is you start with a large collection of data then narrow it down with a string of conditions connected by either term. I always thought that was weird. In meatware language "but" has a hint of "exception" not shared by "and."
But [[And?) that doesn't excuse this gaff.

What? No ifs? lol
Trump's the champion in this area -- it must have a run for gaffs for the Dems this week... Mrs. Clinton mistakenly made the 'they all look alike' comment [[even with laugh 'inserted' laugh track it fell flat at best):

I voted for Hillary. But, for months i've been saying she needs to keep her trap shut. Unless I'm missing something, this was not funny.
Let me be clear though, the current resident residing in the white house is far worse.

^^^ I hear that! These eh' 'burps' from the dems merely confirm my continued watch of both sides.
Trusting my own mind and reasoning first. Expect the unexpected.
Knowing well to look beyond the smiling faces, the social media they use, cute couches they sit upon, mikes they speak into, or podiums they stand behind!
Including, especially, those claiming to have my best interests at heart.

I am 58 and never even heard about what that was all about,as I am sure half of the country under the age of 70 was the same way.I am kinda supisious of George Jefferson now.
CBS had a special explaining what it was concerning.

Republican Congressman and avowed white nationalist Steve King has had his support cut off from the national GOP:
http://fortune.com/2018/10/31/steve-...e-supremacist/
The National Republican Congressional Committee [[NRCC) pulled its funding from King and openly denounced him after a series of increasingly brazen and racist actions, including King re-tweeting a Nazi account on Twitter, endorsing a white supremacist candidate in Canada, and meeting with a Far Right political party in Austria with ties to neo-Nazism and giving an interview in which he preaches the "superiority" of European culture and accuses George Soros of a secret plot to replace white people with minorities.
"Congressman Steve King’s recent comments, actions, and retweets are completely inappropriate. We must stand up against white supremacy and hate in all forms, and I strongly condemn this behavior."
-Rep Steve Stivers, Chairman of the NRCC
Understood. Ah yes, the tit-for-tat factor.
Duly noted.
Basically at this rate, gaffs aside this country is done.
It's not really a "gaffe" if you're an out-and-proud full-on racist like Steve King is, it's just who you fundamentally are as a person. But hey, it's heartening to see that even the NRCC has its limits on how much open and unabashed racism it will tolerate in a Congressional candidate.
