I did. I watched the entire speech posted earlier. It's thoughtful and positive. You should check it out. There's nothing objectionable in there, unless you don't think women, minorities, Native Americans, immigrants and coal miners should be treated with respect and included in the renewable energy movement. Or, maybe, if you're an oil industry shill and oppose the idea of renewable energy in the first place. Or maybe you just don't like how "black" his voice is.
I posted a link to the entire 2004 interview from which the 36-second "steering poison" snippet was taken. I can see how a few right-wing crazies must have fished through it [[poor things, all that work) looking for something they could use, and found that little clip and passed it around to whip up some typical faux outrage. Yes, he talks about racial issues and past injustices, which nobody so far has challenged as false. He talks about these things in the context of how to move forward without repeating past mistakes. If that makes him a dangerous racist asshole in your mind, so be it.
What'll hurt Obama is that most of the people passing judgment are lazy, drooling idiots who don't bother to read, they just take the hyperbole as fact and run with it.
