Does anyone really think LARA has any teeth on a monopoly - c'mon now !
DTE gets push back from folks with trees,
- ""trimmed tooo much""", """now it looks ugly"", etc., etc.
For the greater good of everyone, CLEAR CUT all of it
several feet left/right of the line and prevent the outages
every damn time the wind blows.

My family moved here from Indianapolis during the 1960s. We lived in Indy from 1960 - 1968 and we never lost power. Nobody in our neighborhood owned a generator - because no one needed one.

Here in South Florida, we ;lose power a lot, especially during a hurricane. For most regualr storm outages, the power company website works pretty well. When the entire service area tries to access it at once, it crashes.
DTE just doesn't respect its customers, period
Michigan ranks 4th nationally for power outages.
State residents, businesses put up with more
outages per capitathan any other state

AND the economic impact is IMMENSE in $$$$$$$$$$$$$

If you were Amazon, or other big business,
perhaps you would look "elsewhere" to build, eh ?
This is the sort of stuff business looks at.............

And the electric debacle just gets deeper and nastier for Michigan

I think de-regulation would allow for higher prices and more profits. De-regulation is what the right-leaning Mackinac Center for Public Policy is advocating for.And the electric debacle just gets deeper and nastier for Michigan

I think a big win would be having an even better net-metering policy for solar.
I'm out today and there _are_ underground lines on my street. Reason cited on DTE site was "wind damage". It wasn't that windy last night and the worst of the storms missed me. I don't usually lose power.
Pam, Even though the wires are buried on your street, those wires could be connected blocks away to a transformer that's up on a pole, and there you go. We had a similar situation happen in my area. That being said, DTE seems to be going the way of the oil companies. Every time someone farts in the wrong direction, either there's an outage or the price goes up.
We were out a couple days ago due to "high demand." It was very hot that day so a lot of A/C was being used. Affected area was about 2 square miles. We have underground lines.
DTE's estimate was 3½ hours but they got it fixed in 1 hour. Credit where credit is due.
DTE needs to held accountable - social media affects stock prices -
I have zero sympathy for a monopolistic enterprise interested in just $$$$$
Mine came back on 8 hours sooner than the estimate.
Which means they use a damn WIDE brush in their estimates.
Well, let me tell you that severe, incessant, intense, public/social pressure
- actually does have an affect , especially effective via the internet.
My neighborhood has seen change, people in the area thank me.
The only way to crush a monopoly's soul - criticize it, till it cries........
Find the names of its lawyers, publicize their info, it works nicely !!
DTE wants an image, of being nice, kind, compassionate - it's not.
