    Huntsville, AL is the "rocket capital" of the US. It has a very high density of scientists and engineers and is well developed. The people do say that you "can go twenty miles out of town and back 100 years".

    That being said, there is a lot of industrial investment in northern Alabama. My tool and die maker nephew left Detroit and moved to the area to work in a supplier shop down there and loves it.

    The Toyota Technical Center [[TTC) is located in Ann Arbor.
    FYI, not everybody is happy when Toyota comes to town. Many residents of Georgetown, KY [[home of the largest Toyota manufacturing complex in the world) complain bitterly that Toyota ruined "their way of life". Cue the banjos.................
