Lol the CDC is not permitted to collect gun related incidents, but yet there is tons of information out there.

Or is it bad information because the CDC is the ultimate authority?

CDC the one that says to get a flu shot but then says it only has a 25% success rate.

What is the difference between killing somebody with a leagly acquired gun then killing somebody with distracted driving while texting, nothing they are both innate objects being abused in the hands of irresponsible people.

So why ban one but not another if the end result is the same?

Or in your famous words ... answer the question.

Or admit it,it has nothing to do with people getting killed and everything to do with eliminating the things we do not agree with.

Okay fine place restrictions on guns and require age limits, and do the same with cell phones.

The test now is going to be the age discrimination lawsuits that Dicks sporting goods is getting ready to face.

CDC can collect basic statistics on firearm injuries and death, but isn't permitted to conduct independent research on gun violence. Google the Dickey Amendment if you don't believe me.

Dick's isn't going to face age discrimination lawsuits because it didn't break any laws. If you think they did, feel free to cite the specific law you believe they violated. Why do you hate capitalism, Richard? This is the free market at play. If you don't like it, don't shop there. Sorry we don't live in your socialist paradise where the government can force private businesses to sell guns against their will.

Besides, any 18-year old can go on ArmsList.com right now and find an AR-15 for sale and buy it. No background check required, no questions asked, no paper trail. So can any convicted felon, mentally insane person, terrorist, or illegal alien. As long as you have the cash, you can get an AR-15, doesn't matter who you are or what you've done in the past.

CDC is not an independent research facility and when does a gun follow under the realm under CDC, now wait for it ...... it does not which is why it is not in their scope.

CDC works 24/7 to protect America from health, safety and security threats, both foreign and in the U.S. Whether diseases start at home or abroad, are chronic or acute, curable or preventable, human error or deliberate attack, CDC fights disease and supports communities and citizens to do the same.

Is a gun considered a disease in your mind,I guess a gun in theroy can sneak across the border with a vial of bubonic plague and spread it about, but I have never seen a gun with traction control or advailable in 4x4 models,so in winter or snow it would be tough to move about.

Anybody who is going to purchase a weapon on Armslist has to agree with the splash screen saying that they are abiding by state and federal laws as they apply,so if they are entering to purchase illegally that is on them.

No different then somebody buying a weapon off of the street, illegal is illegal, but once again you only apply what is illeagle to your agenda.

The law is when buying from a private party no background check is required,so it is totally irrelevant on what one can do legally,so why the drama over a legal action?

You are getting worked up over somebody doing something that is perfectly legal, who is the socialist now?

Amybody can also purchase a cell phone anywhere and you still have not answered the question of why no bans on cell phones?

Yes. I'm guessing it was the phone calls that scared you.

Damned phones. Gotta get ridda them. Texting kills.

Seriously, I sympathize, and hope the best for your children.

You probably shouldn't speak definitely on issues that you know nothing about.

    1) CDC has an Injury Prevention Center that studies, among other things, Traumatic Brain Injury, concussions, fires, drownings, suicides, car accidents, poisonings, etc. Does getting shot by a firearm count as an "injury?" Yes, yes it does.
    2) Prior to the Dickey Amendment, the CDC DID conduct gun violence research. Considering 100,000 Americans a year get shot by a gun, it would seem to be a relevant public health issue for our nation's primary public health agency to study.

Your ignorance of what the CDC does does not mean that this doesn't fall under their purview. Hence why Republicans felt the need to pass legislation to specifically ban them from studying this one specific thing.

The phone calls I'm getting are robo calls from campus police...about every hour. The information I've received is the student was just released from the hospital with mental/and or drug related issues. He killed his parents or other family members who came to pick him up for spring break. The whole campus and the town of Mt. Pleasant is on lock down. Another issue, and not sure if it's true, is word of a few locals trying to take matters into their own hands, with an AR15. I was told this was heard on the local/state police scanner.

As a parent of a student that attends this university, it is quite scary to receive these calls. I am looking forward for her to come home.

^ everybody here is an expert already and seem to have no problem finding links to support their cause,so why waste funding with CDC.

Really no point because some no matter what evidence is provided if it does meet the agenda is fake.

Yes, but sarcasm is not meant for belly laughter.

I had anticipated Richard's reply about killer cellphones by a country mile.

Gun law reform advocates are agenda-driven dishonest players.

What better argument than to ban cellphones, the very instruments that facilitate communication between hostages and the police or family members...

I bet Richard owns a cell phone. In fact, I bet he owns the biggest, thickest, most powerful cellphone on the market. What do you think he might be overcompensating for?

Actualy I knew some were stressed at the moment So out of respect I chose not to comment,I know respect is a foreign concept to some but I try to have a little consideration for others weather I agree with them or not.

and your other aspect does not make sense, you want to ban guns, the very thing that we have to protect ourselves from the crazies that you create.

Are you like 6 years old?

My cellphone is like everything else, tiny,so you lost that bet.

I do not need to overcompensate for anything or anybody, you should try it,maybe it would relive some of your built up stress,it is really not healthy.

Hey,maybe you can call the CDC and they can help you.

Yeah, sure I get that. Crazy that in addition to teaching you have to watch your back for the crazies. After class as a standard rule I never/ ever sit a classroom alone with an open/ unlocked door. Nope.

College campus has always been 'walk-about' areas for anyone carrying a backpack -- who may not be a student. Some campuses are tighter than others, granted, but it's increasingly an environment where you best take extra caution re. yourself and your students.

No, but you certainly have the grammar and spelling of a 6 year old. Which is funny, because in another thread, you were complaining about people not speaking English when you can barely speak it yourself.

^ yep standard protocol,if you have nothing constructive to add go after the spelling and grammar, then if you are really desperate revert to childhood and make anatomy comparisons.

Did you call the CDC yet for help?

How much English have you heard me speak here? Maybe that be those little voices in yer head.

Here is a bit more insight as to it is more then a gun problem.

    https://www.realclearinvestigations...._shooting.html

Despite committing a string of arrestable offenses on campus before the Florida school shooting, Nikolas Cruz was able to escape the attention of law enforcement, pass a background check and purchase the weapon he used to slaughter three staff members and 14 fellow students because of Obama administration efforts to make school discipline more lenient.

Do you speak it better than you type it?

There are many adult literacy programs in the city of Detroit, I can refer you to one if you like. A mind is a terrible thing to waste.

I agree,I semi retired at age 54 just think of the possibilities I could have had if I would have had an education or actually worked for somebody.

Some things in life do not require a formal education, you just have to be good at what you do,common sense and street sense is not taught in a school.

I probably could take a literacy program in Detroit but it is currently a bit chilly up there and the drive time would put a lot of wear and tear on the car,I guess I could convert my car to a driverless one over the weekend and make it easier though.

March for our lives events today had impressive turnouts.

Semi-automatic military type rifles with quick detachable 30rd magazines being easily available and common in this country and what happens when they are used in ambush on civilians is becoming a political issue that is being discussed in many more families lately.

It will be a interesting November.
