Here's a Youtube video that shows the coming down of the famous "7 Sisters" Edison Power Plant on the lower east side at 10:00, and also the lamentable loss of the 17 story Wolverine Hotel [[next to Comerica Park) at 12:15.

Good stuff. Amazing how fascinating these implosions can be!
I was at one of the early ones, before they became so common. Great Lakes Sugar [[I think it was called) over on the near east side somewhere. That was probably sometime in the early to mid 80s. Might have been part of the Poletown mess, but I can't remember. As I recall, it didn't go as planned and part of it remained standing.
Yet another place where my dad worked, gone.
But Packard is still there.
Also at 9:44 is the demo of the hotel that was next to the Fisher building. It sat next to the McDonald's. They're building condos at that spot now. Here's a Youtube video that shows the coming down of the famous "7 Sisters" Edison Power Plant on the lower east side at 10:00, and also the lamentable loss of the 17 story Wolverine Hotel [[next to Comerica Park) at 12:15.

Thanks!! I missed that one... also surprised that the Hudsons demo wasn't included in this demolition derby... I decided that I would never want to witness a demo like these.... we don't know what is in that potential toxic dust mix...
