Had to be a coincidence that Gilbert put up a new sign yesterday on the parking garage at Beaubien and Fort that says "Bricktown Parking Garage."Umm.... someone needs a geography lesson [[Detroit News).... that is NOT Greektown.... that's the border between Bricktown and the BCBS Campus. The main Greektown street is 3 blocks to the north!!
This site is closer to Jefferson than it is to Greektown.
I will not be afraid to go to Greektown....
what exactly constitutes downtown? Do they not include harmony park, bricktown, greektown, and other named districts in the overall downtown crime stats? Ive read before that downtown is safe but i also see headlines about violent crimes downtown often enough that it doesn't seem all that safe.
Those districts aren't big enough to be their own "things". Everything surrounded by the Lodge, Fisher, Chrysler, and the river is downtown. I rarely see truly awful crimes happening downtown. These shootings are not the norm overall, though the fireworks does have a history...what exactly constitutes downtown? Since we're discussing what constitutes "downtown," some folks even consider areas along Woodward up to the New Center area "downtown."Those districts aren't big enough to be their own "things".
