And given Trump's notoriously defiant confrontation style, this will become very interesting when he escalates this into his own ban from Facebook.

I will wear that icon proudly.

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL! Supreme Court just ruled that New York City District Attorney Cyrus Vance can have access to Donald Trump's tax returns and financial records as part of a subpoena into a criminal investigation for bank fraud and tax fraud.

    https://thehill.com/homenews/adminis...ps-tax-returns

Want to know the absolute funniest part? BOTH of Trump's Supreme Court picks, Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh, voted with the majority. It was a 7-2 decision. Even Trump's own picks were like "yeah, the prosecutors can have all of his documents." LOL!

Except that's not exactly what happened. This decision is mixed at best, with most of it going back to lower courts. There's still no concrete decision on whether or not all of Trump's tax returns will be released to the NY prosecutor, only that they can be.

Is that the Breitbart/Fox News spin? Correct, they got sent back to the lower courts and Trump got a reprieve on Congress getting his tax returns [[which is a moot point now, since Congress wasn't going to impeach him a second time five months before the election). But their majority opinion in the Vance case was pretty clear cut...U.S. Presidents are NOT immune to the rule of the law and Vance's subpoena is 100% valid. That the Vance case was sent back to the lower court is merely a formality meant to delay the release of Trump's tax returns until after the election so as not to be seen as SCOTUS putting its thumb on the scales for Biden. Make no mistake, Cyrus Vance WILL get Trump's documents, that is 100% certain.

Just to clarify what SCOTUS did, they AFFIRMED the lower court ruling and remanded it back to the lower court for further review. In this case, the lower court is the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. This is the same court that ruled UNANIMOUSLY in favor of Cyrus Vance when they ruled on this case back in November 2019. Now, in your expect legal opinion, do you think the judges of the Second Circuit will have changed their minds in the past 8 months on this case, especially in light of the fact that the Supreme Court just AGREED with their original ruling? Genuine question, is that what you think? You pinning your hopes on that?

Let me educate you on how this will play out. The decision is now remanded back to the Second Circuit after SCOTUS affirmed their original ruling in favor of Cyrus Vance. The Second Circuit will now examine the issue of whether or not the President of the United States is immune from criminal investigation while in office, which they did not consider in their original ruling. Now keep in mind, SCOTUS DID consider this argument, and by a 7-2 ruling, they just said "NO, the President is NOT immune from criminal investigation just because he's the President."

So, now for your little wet dream fantasy to play out, the Second Circuit would have to reconsider that argument and not only decide that they were wrong, but that SCOTUS was also wrong [[again, 7-2 ruling). Do you want to bet money on that? Because there's plenty of online betting escrow services and I'll take that bet if you want to wager real money on it.

In Summary: This will kick around the courts for a few more months, the Second Circuit will "review" the case and come to the exact same conclusion that SCOTUS did, and then Cyrus Vance gets everything he wants sometime in early 2021 after the election has already been decided. This was just the SCOTUS way of punting the implementation until after the election.

Oh and in case you weren't paying attention, Trump went absolutely ape-shit on Twitter today. He had a full-on meltdown about how much of a victim he is and how unfair the rulings were. Big victory though?

Here's how this plays out. Trump loses the election in November. Vance gets his financial documents, tax returns, and bank records sometime in early 2021. Trump is indicted on numerous felony counts of bank fraud, wire fraud, and tax fraud in late 2021.

A lot of people are trying to figure out what he meant with the "for the 1/100 times" comment. I figure he thought it to himself and forgot to say it outloud.
Must say, thought, that was a great meltdown.

A Trump-supporting Right Wing "Men's Rights" attorney attempted to assassinate an Obama-appointed Latina judge in New Jersey.

    https://www.nydailynews.com/new-york...psy-story.html

Roy Den Hollander, a lawyer who specializes in "anti-feminist" lawsuits [[such as suing bars for having a Ladies' Night) and has appeared multiple times on Fox News, dressed up as a FedEx delivery man and attacked the home of Federal District Court Judge Esther Salas. Salas was appointed to the federal bench by Obama and was the first Latina to sit on the federal court in the state.

The Judge wasn't home at the time of the attack, but Hollander murdered the Judge's son and gravely wounded her husband. Hollander fled the scene and later shot himself.

Roy Den Hollander: Another MAGA TERRORIST.

Anyways, the Republicans seem to reluctantly be pulled into the reality of COVID-19. GOP to drastically scale back the Republican National Convention.

Originally planning on having 20,000 Republicans attend, Republicans will now just have 2500 attendees for the Convention itself [[a reduction of 88%) and only 7000 will be admitted for Trump's outdoor acceptance speech. This is due to the fact that the GOP moved their convention to the #1 COVID hotspot in America [[Florida) even the Republican Mayor of Jacksonville admits that the city does not have the resources to safely conduct the Convention, even at a significantly reduced capacity.

Trump: “Some people would say that men are insulted" by Biden picking a female VP.

    https://apnews.com/759dbacb6460012fa020043113f3f3ad

Ahhh, the old "some people are saying", which is Trump-speak for "this is what I'm thinking and no one else."

GOP can say goodbye to suburban women.

Some Republicans are voting Biden strictly because they are sick of the division, insults and bullying. Civil war is not what they were looking for in the first place. The hope of a smart Businessman getting a shot at the presidency is long gone. Whatever is going on now in White House is obviously not that.

Since March 1st, Democrats have flipped six Republican-held state legislative seats. Last night a Democrat flipped a House seat in South Carolina, in the outskirts of Charleston. She beat her Republican opponent by 20 points. A Republican won that seat in 2018 by 3 points, that's a 23 point shift, in a Red State.

In June, a Democrat flipped a Kentucky state Senate seat in suburban Louisville by a 15 point margin. That seat was won by a Republican in 2018 with a 5 point margin of victory, a swing of 20 points. In May, Democrats flipped two State Senate seats and one State House seat in Massachusetts. In March, Dems flipped a state House seat in New Hampshire.

It looks like COVID marked a rather abrupt turning point. Take it for what's it worth, but it's probably not a good sign for the GOP for November if Democrats are seeing 20 point swings in their favor in the suburbs in Kentucky and South Carolina.

10 months into the fiscal year, the federal budget deficit stands at $2.8 TRILLION. That's more than double the previous record and there are still two more months of deficit spending to go before the fiscal year is over.

CBO estimates that this year, the deficit will surpass 100% of Gross Domestic Product for the very first time since WWII.

If we can get a better than a 10/1 on our expenses from the CCP/Fauci virus like we'll get on the wall,.. that would be awesome.

Wall cost, 8 billion. Cost of foreign invaders into the USA from Mexico, 90 billion EVERY YEAR!

Between the trade deal and the wall,.. we'll get 1,000 - 1 return on the wall. It's not like anyone thought Mexico was going to write us a check.

If you're not for the wall,.. it's just because you passionately hate the USA and you hate the working poor.

Perhaps like Bill Clinton. He paid back his corporate donors royally by making it easy to ship jobs overseas, and not having tariffs. So huge companies could export the jobs, pay a few bucks a day to have their goods manufactured [[sometimes by child labor), then import those same goods back here tariff free.

That allowed them to not only avoid paying Americans for labor, it also allowed them to avoid a lot of taxes, unions, safety standards and environmental laws.

So if you like seeing big corps avoid hiring Americans,.. you'll like Biden. He'll sell out to anyone about anything. He'll be a communist one minute and throw people of color in jail the next. Whatever his handlers tell him to do.

Trump now pushing racist Birther conspiracy theory about Kamala Harris...who was born in the state of California and is a natural-born citizen.

    https://www.npr.org/2020/08/13/90236...is?ft=nprml&f=

President Trump stoked a controversial theory being promoted by supporters — and his campaign — that Sen. Kamala Harris of California is not eligible for the vice presidency.

The Democrat was born in California and therefore qualifies for the job.

Trump, who led a "birther" conspiracy movement against former President Barack Obama, told reporters Thursday that he heard a "highly qualified, very talented lawyer" opine that Harris didn't qualify to serve as vice president but did not know if it were true or not. Trump was responding to a question and was referring to a Newsweek opinion piece by law professor John Eastman inaccurately calling into question Harris' eligibility.
In all of American history, only two people of color have ever been included on a major party ticket for President/VP...and now Trump has insinuated that both of those people may not truly be "American."

At what point will you all stop denying that this man is an out and proud racist?

Being born here isn't enough to make you "Natural Born". It just makes you a citizen.

Kamala doesn't appear to be Natural Born. It is up for a bit of debate of course, as the Constitution doesn't clearly define the term. Some states do define it however. The consensus among legal scholars is "that natural-born citizens include, subject to exceptions, those born in the United States, with at least one natural born parent. "

Neither of her parents were citizens at the time of her birth, natural born or otherwise,.. so she would be a citizen, but not a Natural Born one.

    Best we can tell.

You can throw around terms like birthers and racists,.. but you do that just to run from any discussion of the facts.

According to who? You? What's your legal basis for saying that? Because the courts have ruled otherwise...

In 2009 in Ankeny v. Governor,[62] the Indiana Court of Appeals reaffirmed that persons born within the borders of the United States are "natural born Citizens", regardless of the citizenship of their parents. The court referred to the case of Wong Kim Ark, and provides a compilation of the arguments pertaining to this topic.A clarification to this interpretation was made in 2010, where a three-judge panel of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit held that natural born citizens can lose their citizenship if their territory of birth later ceases to be U.S. territory. The case involved a Philippine-born litigant who could not claim U.S. citizenship on the basis of his parents, who lived all their lives in the Philippines, because they were born while the Philippines was U.S. territory prior to being given its independence. The Courts for the Second, Third, and Ninth Circuits have also held that birth in the Philippines at a time when the country was a territory of the United States does not constitute birth "in the United States" under the Citizenship Clause, and thus did not give rise to United States citizenship.[63]
In a 2012 New York case, Strunk v. N.Y. State Board of Elections,[4] the pro se plaintiff challenged Barack Obama's presence on the presidential ballot, based on his own interpretation that "natural born citizen" required the president "to have been born on United States soil and have two United States born parents" [[emphasis added). To this the Court responded, "Article II, section 1, clause 5 does not state this. No legal authority has ever stated that the Natural Born Citizen clause means what plaintiff Strunk claims it says. ... Moreover, President Obama is the sixth U.S. President to have had one or both of his parents not born on U.S. soil". The opinion then listed Andrew Jackson, James Buchanan, Chester A. Arthur, Woodrow Wilson, and Herbert Hoover.[4]
She was born on American soil. She is natural-born. I'll throw around whatever terms I like because they are 100% accurate. Cry about it if it bothers you, I don't care.
