your simple-minded identity bs is irrelevent here, and most other places, because it is merely a means of deflection, as most arguments are not of the identity type.

do you not understand that better health and outcomes can certainly be the RESULT of better access and quality of health care? most people do. if you don't, then there is something blocking your reasoning -- oh, wait, there is -- Randvision

    Food, water, shelter, clothing, healthcare.

A country as great and wealthy and powerful as ours still has people who don't have these?

Of course, it's quite simple. Free market health care, in a nutshell:
If you choose not to be rich, but you're healthy, you're OK. Keep your fingers crossed and wear your seat belt.
If you choose to get sick or injured, and you've chosen to be rich, our superior health care system will fix you.
If you get choose to sick or injured, and you've chosen NOT to be rich, you must choose to crawl into a ditch and die.
    Yup, that works.

Sooo myopic. Try decreased costs spurred by competition and increased quality for the same reason. This is for starters.

    It's shameful, but true.

Problem is, we have a business and political culture that align themselves with the thinking of Ebeneezer Scrooge, and not with Mahatma Ghandi.

try decreasing costs by gutting the administrative overhead and bloated salaries of insurance execs. The remove the anti-trust exemptions insurance companies enjoy and which allow them to act as a monopolistic cartel, then allow all insurance companies to compete in every US market, including allowing open enrollment in medicare for individuals and corporations.

why is it that we pay twice as much for insurance here as they do in every other industrialised country, yet they cover everyone, have longer life expectancies, lower infant mortality and better overall outcomes from medical treatment than all but the wealthiest Americans?

Yes. A public option would do just that. Especially if it doesn't reject all but the healthiest and drop people as soon as they need care. Another option, more competition - what a great concept.

    Sigh...public option=competition? how so?

Real competition only occurs in a market system, a true and just market system [[as in capitalism) cannot exist with a socialist government entity as one of the players.

Illogical on it's face and therefore one of the lamest arguments Obama has tried to make [[but failed).

Problem is, a "true and just capitalist system" doesn't exist in the United States, and hasn't arguably since the early 60's.

Monopolies carry the day in the 21st century. Break them up- Exxon, Walmart, Boeing, United Health Scare, etc, etc.

    .

It will force medical costs to come down because insurance companies will have to compete with what the government pays medical proffessionals for their services and in turn driving down costs dramatically.

Enough with the rape of peoples health.

So, you ARE against giving the public more choices, if it interferes with corporate profits. In any true and just society, profit must come before people's health.
    Thanks for clearing that up.
