The Crystal Lofts Building, site two spectacularly failed specialty grocery ventures, has two new businesses opening soon. Over the years some of my cohorts have mused over what we called 'cursed sites', sites were business after business failed. Wondering and hoping not, that this site won't become one.

Our original cursed site was nicknamed the 'Curse of the Tartar House', the current Byblos Cafe and Grill on Palmer just off Cass, which back in the day was called the Tartar House after then then WSU sports team name the Tartars, regrettably changed to the blander name Warriors. Restaurant after restaurant would open and fail. Same for the current site of the HopCat, fka Agave, Stewart's, Alexander's, Gregory's... Any other cursed sites in your memory?

Anyway, about the new ventures...

[QUOTE]New Order Coffee Roasters, a company specializing in small batch roasting, is scheduled to open in Midtown this winter. The roastery's first café will be located on the main floor of Midtown's Crystal Loft Building adjacent to the soon-to-open restaurant, Grey Ghost Detroit.[

Third times a charm? With the Qline opening and the soon to be occupied The Scott at Brush Park apartments adjacent maybe its critical mass has arrived.
