The one on Mack Ave. in Grosse Pointe Woods had an interesting late-night clientele.
Working folks, young partiers, guys in black tie - an absolute hodge podge.

Very related. The E-Coli deaths killed JITB's eastern expansion.Out in the northern burbs there was one on Orchard Lk Rd a little south of 12 Mile that I remember quickly closed in the late 70s after a kid died from eating an e-coli tainted burger at JITB in California. I don't know if these 2 events were related, but as I remember it was one of the last ones around metro Detroit that I remember seeing.
Out west, where they were well established, they've survived.
Two Tacos for $0.99. And they're heavenly. I also hit them right after I&O Burgers after landing on the west coast.
I'm having a hard time believing people are getting all teary-eyed over talking to a Twilight Zone character then eating the crappy food it provides.
They were really the first fast food joint to open within walking/biking distance in our part of the east side, so we kids all wanted to go there [[Mickey D's didn't come around until a couple of years later), hance some small degree of nostalgia. I will always remember the contrast between the drive-thru clown on the TV ads saying cheerily "May I have your order please?", while the clown in my neighborhood said, somewhat less cheerily, "What you want?"

They have moved back into the Midwest a little bit. They have ones in Indy and Ohio that have opened in the last 3 years.
Not everyone cared for Jack In The Box.....
