Thread: Kelly Stafford

    Default Kelly Stafford

I can't link to the story but evidently she had extra tickets for the Saints game and she tries [[maybe succeeds) selling them on some site [[maybe Stubhub). That's okay but she goes on social media announcing the sale for some extra advertising. This girl must be on drugs or something. She had to know she was going to get all kinds of heat for doing that. I can't imagine what she was thinking when she did it.

Leave peoples family members alone. If you feel you need to rip on the women in a guys life at least have the stones to do it in front of him, if not let it go its not your business.

I'm inclined to agree here but in this day of the immediacy of the Twitterverse, even the families of sports folk are seemingly fair game.

I still recall one Red Wings game I went to where Curtis Joseph's wife and kids sat in front of us. Cujo let in a few questionable goals and before you knew it, the cascade of foul language came from the stands. And somehow the family was outed and before long the calls of "Yer husband's a bum" started up. It wasn't long before the usher was called in and the poor guy's family had to be escorted out of there. Not only couldn't they enjoy the game, they were quickly chased by the mob. To this day I still remember one of the kids' faces not really getting a grasp of the entire situation and being disappointed that he couldn't watch his dad play hockey.

So i agree wholeheartedly that the families of our sports people should be left alone. They already have enough to deal with being married to a visible person.

Typical internet loser that defends attractive women no matter what. She's a bimbo with implants. Hopefully Matthew made her sign a prenup or he will be in a lot of pain. She is not wife material.

You couldn't be more right. In some countries they lapidate for a lot less...

Look it, if you are looking for work, you might have a chance setting chairs at Trump's next rally in Michigan. Stick it to those internet losers, Cliffy.

No argument from me about the prenup but what's so bad about implants? They can be a lot of fun, it's all about the lady that had the surgery.

Certainly nobody should be harassing her, after all she clearly is just plain dumb. But you have to be amazed at how naïve people are about social media despite seeing the results of others stupidity day after day. Of course today, hundreds of people will go out and drink and drive, text and drive, etc.
Trying to picture Alan Trammel's wife in front of Fenway selling extras. Then again if Kate Upton said she had a pair I'd believe her.

I don't really understand why anyone cares or why this is news. This is a normal thing that many folks do. You have extra tickets, you try to sell them. My brother-in-law does it all the time with his Lions tickets.

Is your brother-in-law a member of the Lions organization? That's the key difference.

No he's not. I still just fail to care, at all.

I'm a hockey fan. If I found out that Zetterberg's wife was selling Wings tickets on Stub-Hub above face value, I still would give no shits.

She couldn't go. Would we rather the seats be empty?

In my life there are things that are important and get thought and energy, this is not one of them.

Well the point is, as bham1984/and 401don say, that she could hand them over to a charity or give them to the nanny, cleaning lady, whoever, but not sell them at a premium and broadcast it. Sheesh!

Ms. Stafford doesn't analyze my life and tell me to give my stuff to charity. My friends who live paycheck to paycheck don't look at me and demand I give things to charity.

I did a Google search, "Matt Stafford Charitable Giving", and guess what, he's given more to charity this year than I'll be able to in my entire life. I don't understand why certain transactions that his family does will be scrutinized by the charity police.

They're her tickets. She can do with them as she pleases. She can sit in them. She can tear them up. She can sell them. If she's going to sell them, there's not reason not to to do it at market value. That's how I sell tickets, cars, used furniture, etc...

In just one instance alone, Stafford gave a million dollars for a new football field in Detroit. So if his wife wants to sell some frickin' tickets I frankly don't care.

In my mind, the fact that people are paying attention to this is funny, because of how unimportant it is to me.

Come get yo' girl Matt!!! She gon' have to learn!!!

As far as giving her a break, I agree with 401don. When you're a public figure, it's unreasonable to not expect the general public to give you candid feedback.

I'm with 48307, I'm not sure I understand the outrage here at all. She couldn't go to the game due to a family situation, so she had extra tickets, and she tried to sell them for the going rate [[which is often over the face value, particularly for prime seats). So what?

I've certainly done this myself, and have also posted the availability of my extra tickets to people on Facebook. This is what you do when you have tickets you can't use. That idiot writer is pretty transparently trying to stir up a story about a non-celebrity "celebrity" where there's really nothing but pretty normal activity.

When your spouse works for one of the teams playing and earns 20 million per year you don't think the optics are bad to charge above face value and then promote it on social media? What if Harrison Ford's wife was selling a couple of extras to the Star Wars opening?

Exactly. The optics are horrible. You don't sell benefits that your spouse gets due to his/her employment, whether making 20k or 20 million. Everyone in the Lions organization gets an allotment of tickets.

But then to sell above face value and to actually promote on social media, when your spouse is the face of the franchise, is ridiculously dumb. Just give the tickets to a youth group. And probably best to not post anything on social media.

According to the reports, she paid for these tickets out of her own pocket, they weren't comped [[benefits from the team). If anything, she should be commended for exercising good financial judgment and using her own money.

It's in extremely bad form when your old man makes close to $18 mil a year, and gets tickets for free.

I'm old enough to remember reading about how unwelcomed Kelly Harmon
DeLorean felt when she lived in Detroit. [[Christina Ferrare lives in California
    now too).

Detroiters may have norms that are too tough for others in some ways.

The opposite is true. Detroiters will defend anyone related to their sports/civic heros, regardless of their conduct. You see this in the thread, where people are tying themselves in knots trying to parse out when public figures should be able to hawk company benefits.

This story is a headline in the NY Daily News and in other national publications. It seems to be more hidden locally, though, because the local papers are lapdogs to establishment types like the Fords. Don't want to hurt advertising revenue.
