The media hypes violence because of the mantra "If it bleeds, it leads". The more it bleeds the more attention paid to it. Look at the media stampede at the shooters residence. Give every maniac with any kind of violent outburst worldwide attention and you will draw viewers. The fact that it will inspire others will just provide you with more bloody stories to run.

Where did I mention gun control? I'm talking about why does the media choose to hype this spree as somehow being worse because of Isis. Violence and death are the same no matter who is behind it or why. I suppose it makes a difference to law enforcement looking for collaborators, but it doesn't make a difference to me.
