Detroit Grand Prix = 20 years on Belle Isle, record number of sponsors [[75), record attendance this year [[105,000), largest Indy racing tv viewership other than Indy 500 two years in a row [[1.68 million), record social media reach

So it’s actually YOU against the masses!

Belle Isle draws 4 million a year which breaks down to roughly 11k each day on the island. Apply that to the proposed 67 days of setup and you have 737,000 visitors impacted by the setup. But sure, the 105,000 the event draws is cool...

~1,700,000 [[workers, attendees, viewers) would miss out on a Detroit event by not having the Grand Prix versus 737,000 [[assuming every person was somehow impacted just by being on the island).

The biggest hurdle that detractors have to overcome is trying to take away a 20 year old event that far more people like than dislike. To put it in perspective, that the group behind this effort had 5 people at their first protest and about a dozen at another one.

Damn the number does look huge when you toss in the television audience. Not at all dishonest, right? Help me out here, how much of that laughably small worldwide audience of 1.68 million ever set foot in Detroit? How does a niche group of racing fans who likely will never visit Detroit much less Belle Isle benefit the park and the people of Detroit?

    10% to 20% does not equal 1/3.

So everything west of the conservatory is now 10%? It might be time to consult a map.

Fake race, fake drivers, and few really cares who wins
2019 remains up in the air, perhaps no race at all on Belle Isle

It's now in the hands of the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.
Public comments, questions and feedback will be accepted
via email at DNR-GrandPrix-Proposal@michigan.gov through Aug. 2, 2019

Looks like in 2019 , everyone gets 60 days back - since the race won't happen

Record attendance is just 105,000???? That's literally two events at Ford Field.

Yep, we are Detroit , because we don't believe in imaginary lines
like 8 miles which "suppossedly" separate everything, because they don't

Maybe Town Cluber can go to the Cleveland Grand Prix next year ??

Don't worry Town Cluber; you can still claim to be from Detroit
    while in Cleveland 2019

The question also has to be asked...why are some of the “professional detractors/protestors” so dishonest and outright nasty with their behavior and tactics?

Yes, no, maybe, all of the above, none of the above? It's a simple question. Most everyone can understand multiple choice.

Why are some people DENSER than Osmium ?

Symbol: Os Atomic mass: 190.23 u

Osmium is perhaps the densest naturally occurring element on the Earth.
It has twice the density of lead, and slightly more than that of Iridium.

ABSOLUTELY FALSE - a park is meant to be A PARK

You know, one of those natural, nice, places folks go to enjoy NATURE
Trees, grass, water, fresh air, peace and quiet, tranquility

It is not a auto race track, and never should have been a race track, period.

Parks are where city dwellers to go -- to relax, out of the city.
Think Central Park, in the middle of New York City.
Ever wonder why there is no grand prix circuit in Central Park.........?

Damn you're a dense piece of work Town Cluber

    https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/park

Ohhhhhhhhh just in case you actually do fact check
-- Central Park NY actually has a Grand Prix [[with horses)
    https://www.centralpark.com/news/geo...rk-grand-prix/
The Central Park Grand Prix was televised live on NBC Sports Network
as the first live primetime broadcast of equestrian sport on a major sports network.

Based on YOUR criteria, are you giving us a preview of the next fake controversy?

Banning sports, cars, family reunion bbqs, concerts, Metro Detroit Youth Day, functions at the BI casino, the USCG Station, the DYC/DBC, etc. from Belle Isle?

Damned dense piece of work indeed!

I heard you can only BBQ while being neutral colored.
No yellows, reds, blacks or whites allowed to roast food on Belle Isle.

Oh good, YOU’RE going to allow some cooking on Belle Isle. But only with fires started with sticks and of animals caught on the island. Because, you know, Nature! Or maybe not animals because that would be controversial?

I'll go half and half with you Town Cluber, we'll meet in the middle.
If you hit the deer with a baseball bat, I'll start a fire with sticks/twigs.
Nothing beats fresh venison roasted over a wood fire. Yum Yum Yum !!!!!!
Hell, I'll even share some cold beer with you while it cooks.
Dress neutral so no one can make a case for a Hip Hop BBQ in progress.
You can even run around in circles, making Vroom Vroom noises :-)
Oh snap that's NASCAR that turns only left the whole race.
The Australian version of NASCAR, called AUSCAR turns right all the time.
Either way, you're free to run around making engine noises the whole day
