While so many are "Winging" away our country is headed for collapse and neither party has proven or even offered up a reasonable solution to detour it's path. We had Right Wing, they got us here, we have the Left Wing, same deal. It's going to take something more than a simple partisan effort at this point.

Absolutely not, but I don't look back. I look to the present and forward and consider the promises our current President made. All his wasted words about outsourcing, which in my opinion is arch nemesis one in this country, he is doing nothing. All his tough talk about NAFTA, he's absent. All his fist pounding about China, crickets. It is and will be our ultimate undoing.
What would be your solution that doesn't involve a big trade war that would mess up our economy even more ?

Why do you think he's pushing Green technology, other than it represents technologies that can't be outsourced ?

He knows its too late to undo the outsourcing and globalization that Reagan, Bush and Clinton got us into.

Do you expect him to undo twenty plus years of attacks on our key [[use to be) industries in 6 months.

BTW what promises did he make about NAFTA and outsourcing ?

And I haven't totally given up on him yet. If he starts making the changes that need to be made, I'll have both feet back in his camp.
Really, Ssashmoo, you'll rally behind Obama? You sure as hell weren't sounding that way prior to your post above. Obama has been in office for just over six months and you already have one foot out of his camp and ready to bail. The job to clean up this economic mess is going to take some time and President Obama said that it would. Why are you so quick to criticize? If he did nothing -no additional bailouts, no intervening of GM and Chrysler, would you be happy? With all of the negativity on your part concerning Obama throughtout this Non-Detroit forum and now, with the post quoted above, a mild show of support, I think someone is speaking with a fork tongue.

Quote: "What would be your solution that doesn't involve a big trade war that would mess up our economy even more ?"

Fear-porn. We ARE in a trade war, and our economy and infrastructure is under attack. Then what is the alternative, continue on the same path and be reduced to a third world nation? You do realize that's where we are headed? So just roll over and die? Stiff tariffs on imports, NOW.

Quote: "Why do you think he's pushing Green technology,"

He doesn't have a clue about our economy. When asked in 2004 if he would run for President in 4 years, he laughed and replied something like, Please, let me get a handle on being Senator first, and "No, I won't be running". Obama simply doesn't have the experience or knowledge to fix what ails us.

Quote: "other than it represents technologies that can't be outsourced ?"

We are outsourcing food products. Anything can be outsourced, and you can bet your back-end Wind generation components and battery manufacture can be outsourced. And don't think the people that produce them aren't looking to Asia already. Considering China has one of the largest, if not the largest deposits of rare earth materials used to make permanent magnets used in, you guessed it, DC generators and DC motors. "Can't be outsourced" Is a foolish statement.

Quote: "He knows its too late to undo the outsourcing and globalization that Reagan, Bush and Clinton got us into."

He didn't say that. Show me where he ever said that.

Quote: "Do you expect him to undo twenty plus years of attacks on our key [[use to be) industries in 6 months."

Well, that is one of the main reasons he was elected. it would be nice if at least acted like he was going to. All he has done so far is borrowed money and worked on socialist programs. Like healthcare which I'm for incidentally, but there are much more important issues that face us.

Quote: "BTW what promises did he make about NAFTA and outsourcing ?"

Did you listen any of his campaign speels? He focused on both and promised to fix both over and over. Remember all the lead paint talk and the poison dog food and the dangerous kids toys, and all the other horrors of outsourcing according to them? Why in my opinion he was elected. If he wants a second term, he better start acting like it.

•Louisiana Purchase: Cost: $15 million, Inflation Adjusted Cost: $217 billion
•Race to the Moon: Cost: $36.4 billion, Inflation Adjusted Cost: $237 billion

•Korean War: Cost: $54 billion, Inflation Adjusted Cost: $454 billion
•The New Deal: Cost: $32 billion, Inflation Adjusted Cost: $500 billion ,
•Invasion of Iraq: Cost: $551 billion, Inflation Adjusted Cost: $597 billion*
•Vietnam War: Cost: $111 billion, Inflation Adjusted Cost: $698 billion

And our economy is still in decline but we are told that the good news is that it is not declininag as fast. Uh-huh, good news. Anyone for calling the Islamic Post 'racist'?
I don't recall Austrian School people bellyaching two years ago, but Keynesians certainly did

90% of the money spent on the Marshall Plan was grants, not loans, while the VAST majority of "bailout" money is loans, not grants, 13.3 billion = 118 billion, rather than the 12. whatever. regardless, the trillions are LOANS. virtually everything else on your list are grants. not sure where that $4.6 trillion comes from, either

Peter Schiff is running for the US Senate against Dodd. He was Ron Paul's campaign economics advisor two years ago. Everyone around that campaign was saying this was going to happen. Paulson and Alan Greenspan were Keynesian under Bush. The latter caused much of our mess. Here is a superbly written and entertaining article making my point. You need go nor further than the first couple of paragraphs.

I don't think that the wars were mostly loans but the Marshall Plan, as you say, was. However, the higher the percentage of loans, the wilder Obama's spending seems. This link goes to a couple of possible explanations of where the $4.6T figure came from. Drop down to R.Timm though Olive's posts. You question about the $4.6T was also asked there.

Olive's posts have links to Bloomberg indicating a $7.7T figure.

i respect schiff's investment advice, but I have a problem with followers of von Mises, well, more with Ludwig, whose behavior in professional meetings sometimes ended with him in a huff when people challenged his assertions, after which he would scream at them that they were socialists [[even ChiSchool)

Schiff advocates for more capitalism, unfettered, and unregulated, which is completely retarded, and will never happen.

Tucker Carlson is just a barely male, whining little twit who reminds me of a chihuahua on crack.

Reality is the ultimate arbiter here whereby there is a hard way to get there [[creeping socialism, misery, revolution...hopefully peaceful, then a restoration of individual liberty/property rights/capitalism)...see Europe as they are 10 years ahead of us on this path. Or an easy way, reverse course and go right back to the founding principles of individual liberty thereby minimizing the pain and hastening the return to growth and prosperity. We can take this approach by putting up strong conservatives in 2010 and 2012 and defeating the socialists....3-4 years of socialist misery versus?? 10, 20 years taking the hard route.

You all Americans chose your "BLACK JESUS" Obama to be your king and now you all crucify him to the American flag.

Obama knows that millions of Americans can't afford a health coverage even if they lose their jobs. Most of you all American are not getting his heatlh care reform a chance. The state will have some control but not all it will be for mostly low-income and some middle income folks, but not all. Most of people will have their HMOs and PPOs it will be around for the future. So why are you all complaining? Is it better to have HMOs and PPOs that would cover some but not all of your medical bills or a state take care of your problems? The state run health care is working well in United Kingdom. In fact a foriegner who had a accident can get FREE health care and money on the way. The state take cares it the taxes and other medical costs. You all Americans are afraid of some socialism powered "Obama Care" It seems to me that you all Americans rather be the republican side than be liberal.

I can't believe that you all whining! God didn't give us a spirit of fear, but of a love and power of sounded mind. Plus let me tell you the a tidbit about socialism vs communism:" Socialism is union practice regime where the state supports all natural resources, provide free health care and education and weath must be shared along with masses. You will have free of religion, press, assembly and defense and court of law and protection. Communism is dialectical materialistic union regime that has similarities towards socialism, but it has results out of the conflicts of thesis [[ higher classes) antihesis [[ the proletarians) and a synthesis [[ a proletarian government controlling all natural resources to meet rationing quotas for the Darwinesque utopian society) The concept of religion, morality and family anf freedom will be outlawed. Everyone MUST work everyday to meet production quotas OR ELSE! The state owns the courts, there limited arts through social realism ONLY! Science is accepted through the founding principles through Darwinism [[creationism) and it's flawed because people don't want their ethics taken away and it lacks other societal idealogy.

Now getting back to "Obama Care" his plan maybe socialist, but it could the final solution to get ALL AMERICANS good health care coverage. Therefore give it a try, just this once. Of you all don't like it, Don't vote for Obama for the 2013 election, choose Hillary Clinton instead or George Bush look-a-like.

Default why are people scared of Hussein Obama

I think many are afraid of his Chicago street thugs he brought to DC like Dead Fish Emanuel, the Acorn thugs, and pretty much most of the radical leftists running the government right now

Maybe Obama can't tell the truth and can't tell you specifics on practically anything so people don't believe the lies that leave his lips anymore and they are scared of him when he is changing this country into a socialist utopia and the government controlled press goes along without a peep.

Why does Obama have a SNITCH email address?
If you see anything suspicious questionable or just something you think is too conservative, just send an email and point out this anti Obama behavior so the secret service can investigate you.

4real, are you for real? You really expect our legislators to lie down and let screaming zealots overrun their meetings? There must always be space for all to speak. Those who attempt to shut off communication for everyone else must be restrained to allow others' freedom of speech. In other words, if some refuse to follow the rules, they must be removed. So, if you want to talk, take your turn and say your piece, then let others have their say.

You expect our administration to ignore dissent? All they are doing is gathering content to address concerns, misconceptions and untruths so they can properly address them. See the fearsome results here:

"Their meetings"?? Who is the "they" referred to? Is it not for the purpose of creating an opportunity for "we the people" to exercise their rights to express themselves to the people that they have elected to represent them?
