do you mean that I firmly believe that it is better and infinitely more moral to have policies that benefit many [[rising tide lifts all boats) at the expense of a few rather than policies that benefit the few [[it is the top-heavy ship that inevitably capsizes) at the expense of the many?

or do you think I am anti-capitalist?

you would be right on the first count, dead wrong on the second. I believe in free enterprise, I just believe that it needs to be regulated. I believe in the free market, i believe it, too, needs to be regulated and far more transparant. when you allow the market to operate free of real regulation and free of investigation, what you get are bubbles, because the market is NOT a rational actor as has been proven time and time again, and when the bubble breaks, it is the working people who suffer the most. I do not believe the government should run most businesses, but I believe there are clearly some things the government does better than private industry - basically anything that involves the public good is better handled by a government that is beholden to the people, rather than by some board of directors who are [[with the current set of rules) beholden to very few [[just TRY to get something done, or even get your voice heard at a stockholders meeting if you don't own at least 10% of the corporate stock, usually more) I believe in the reality of the world -- every other nation protects its industry. it is, however, our biggest export. I believe, as Jefferson did, in a progressive tax rate. I believe megacorporations need to be brought down to size, like T. Roosevelt did. I believe that "These capitalists generally act harmoniously and in concert to fleece the people" as Abraham Lincoln said, and therefore MUST be regulated and monitored

Thanks. He knows it, but being the sexist he is, decided to use being female as a pejorative.

I gave it back to him, by suggesting "us girls get together sometime" no doubt it will bruise his male psyche, and he'll have to go into gender defender mode.

Republicans love spending money on things like invading countries on lies. The Iraq war will cost more than this healthcare plan to insure just about everyone for ten years. No problems with invasions of other nations on lies and lies yet when it comes time to help at home they scream. Makes no sense.

No truer words were ever spoken.

However, the reason is always money. When you have chaos in war, you can steal. It's that simple. In the case of the so-called "war on terrorism" it's oil. It's also the ability to run pipelines for oil, and middle east influence peddling.

It's also a reason to raid our treasury of the billions the war has cost by giving no-bid contracts to Blackwater, Halliburton, Bechtel, KBR, etc, etc, all of which are owned/controlled by Bush Crime Family supporters, and all are registered Rethuglicans.

The Bush Regime effected the greatest bank heist in world history, right up to the last moment of the administration with Henry Paulson's threat of "anarchy in the streets" should he be denied the 700 billion bank bailout money.

These people are thieves, and there isn't one person who still identifies as Rethuglican who can be trusted, since if they valued their character, they would have left their party years ago. No excuses.

Yes, Bush's bailout was a grand theft. One detail you left out is that a higher percentage of Democrats voted for in than Republicans, including Senator Obama who left the campaign trail to lobby the black caucus to vote for it. It wasn't a shining moment for Democrats either. My candidate, Ron Paul, stood above the crowd of war mongering spenders and thieves. Unfortunately, running as a third party candidate has limitations.

It's necessary to understand that virtually everyone in official Washington knows the story. They know that economic disaster lies ahead if nothing meaningful is done to change our fiscal practices. But those who at least theoretically have the power to make such changes will not do it because the needed remedies are not politically palatable since they would necessarily mean less government largesse and higher taxes, a lethal potion for politicians to sip.

    So they pretend.

If that was "grand theft"...what do we call the monstrosities under Obama? Economic genocide?

Quadrupling the debt since taking office has nothing to do with GWB and everything to do with liberal spending.
