It's no Apple, but it's an electronic retail store by Gilbert's recently announced Rocket Fiber.1505 Woodward is already halfway through a gutting so it's pretty likely that whatever retail Gilbert announces will be located there.

Hopefully it'll do better than RadioShack lol
Maybe a miniature Microcenter
Gilbert will probably focus on Michigan based retail to fill his storefronts downtown. Maybe retail that could rival national such as Hudson's had rivaled Macy's, Dillards, Dayton, and Marshall Fields. That will be a good idea. However, every Detroit based or Michigan based retail don't have to cater only to the hipster crowd. Every retail don't have to have an old English D on it's polo shirts and tees. A computer or electronic store would be good downtown but police presence has to be beefed up. The only two electronic stores that Detroit has in it's downtown or near downtown locations are Computing Express which is in the Buhl Building, and Staples which is on Jefferson east of Chene. I still say that a Microcenter would do good on Merchant's Row. It could be a smaller version of the Madison heights store.
I think someone should resurrect one of the great Grand Rapids department stores and open it in Detroit! How about a Herpolsheimer's, Steketee's, or Wurzburg's?
Radio shack had a long run running retail stores. I will never understand why people always make a big deal when stores or restaurants go out of business. That's what always happens. Businesses come and go, times change and people change. A business that last a long time is a exception not the rule. The only thing that matters is are more being opened than closing? After a long time in Detroit that trend has changed. Its obvious.
