I'm sure you could fill the top ten least attractive cities list with cities from Mississippi alone, but I digress. Of course Miami, New York, L.A, etc are where the most beautiful people congregate. That's where all the waiter, I mean modeling, gigs are at.....

I think it's a function of environment. When it's 20 degrees in the evening and the only places to go are dimly lit bars or Walmart, you get into the habit of not caring about what you look like. Sweatpants are a style in Detroit, and you know it's true.

That's part of the reason.

Also, Detroit is a blue collar town. So, collectively, people here tend to be rough around the edges and don't feel they have to go around looking like fashion models or impress anyone with their looks.
