Default Wedding Venues [[Vendors) for 2015

This thread is usually started about 2-3 times a year on this forum, so may I ask a few favors from the members. I've done some research on a few of the wedding sites and have read the reviews. Just looking for additional information.

1.) Please provide links for the older discussions regarding venues in Detroit/Metro Detroit. I can never get the search function to work properly. Thanks in advance.

2.) There will be no church involved for the wedding ceremony. We are looking for something like the Rattle Snake Club, Guardian Building Lobby, MOCAD and Scarab Club to hold a ceremony, any other unique venues?

3.) The reception, which we want more free flowing like a party. We are not going to have your typical wedding party, no cake cutting, no bridal party introduction, no garter toss, etc. Looking for a venue for about 200 people , maybe 250 max people in a unique setting. Preferably something with open feeling ...windows, outdoor patio. We do not want your typical hall for wedding. We have tossed around the idea of the Port Detroit, Eastern Market, GP War Memorial, Royal Oak Farmers Market then we are now looking at other venues like Ren Cen , Cobo, International Banquet Center

3.1) Belle Isle, any positive reviews for the Casino and working with the City [[or is state in charge of rental)?

3.2) Private Residence - Any Residences that would rent their property/house for an event? Manoogian Mansion? jk, something along Grosse Pointe or Detroit along the water?

4.) Caters; We like the idea of Food Trucks, but some places require you to use from their preferred lists. Positive experiences with any one?

4.) Recommendations for Vendors in Metro Detroit; i.e Photo Booth, Desserts [[Cupcake Vendor, Ice Cream?) DJ, etc.

We have ruled out Colony Club, Book Cadillac, Fort Shelby, Opera House, Orchestra Hall, DAC, DYC. Casinos, GEM, Roostertail, Detroit Princess, Ovation Yacht, Fillmore, Historical Museum, Comerica Park.

    Thanks in advance

Have you considered the McGregor Memorial Conference Center on WSU's campus?

Recently went to a wedding there. Nice, but...overall kind of odd. For the Ceremony, the guests sat on the balcony and the wedding party was on the island. Acoustics was an issue...and it was really f-ing hot in the sun.

Ford Piquette Plant was an interesting venue for another recent wedding. http://fordpiquetteavenueplant.org/ Pretty much had the run of the place for the evening.

The Players on Jefferson will rent for receptions. http://www.playersdetroit.org/
That was a fun, off the beaten path reception...driven by that place thousands of times.

Friends were married @ the Scarab Club in the summer a few years back. Plenty of room inside, plus guests went outside in the enclosed courtyard.
