Today the Packard Plant was on page 1 of the Business Section of the New York Times:
http://www.nytimes.com/2013/11/22/bu...sell.html?_r=0
The title of the article sets the tone: Derelict in Detroit, and Hard to Sell. They go onto cite:
“The auction has since become a spectacle in a city weary of bad news.”
It's official. He owns Packard.
When does he move in?
If I am able here to open an office, I will be living in the Packard Plant.
While I'm still very skeptical, this certainly is good news.
I think they should but a giant "SOLD" sign on the place like they have in the Curbed story!

How soon does work start? Packard kinda belongs to all of Detroit, not just the Peruvian guy.
Will he start work in the dead of winter? Will he board the place up so it is no longer trafficable and then wait for Spring?
The Packard Plant does indeed photograph well. I like it the way it is.
Maybe the Peruvian guy likes a challenge. He could take on any number of ventures. Why Packard in particular? The surrounding area would need to be equally as nice to attract residents and businesses into the site.
Maybe an influx of some of that hot Chinese money?
Let's hook him up!

Yep, the Marko Davis story was an interesting read. On a separate topic, I think $405 was a fair price for such a large land parcel. 2014 is the year to do it.
I hope this person is "genuine" and actually starts following through on his promises. But, like anyone else, we'll see [[or not).
Hello superfund!
I hear he wants to turn it into a Cheesecake Factory and a House of Blues!
